just wondering how many have auto trans with no issues....and what you did to make them that way.
mine is stock thats the way i want to leave it....current trans shifts nice and stays in od like it should..but dealing with lockup issues..that i have in another post...needing help....Hope this pastes in there, I have a '96.... you won't need all this stuff, just answering the question, don't follow my lead. There are easier ways to get what you are after.
Few things to consider, current and future expected power level of engine, towing expectations, current state of your existing trans. and related electronics.
The one part looks pretty fuzzy so I will add the one table here...

what TC did you use?I tell everybody that if they realize the stock transmission is “broke” to start with and they “fix” it with the correct combo of parts, they won’t have any problems. Mine is the 47RE. I have a bit over 150K on it with no issues. I did a stock rebuild and added a Goerend valve body, TC, billet anchor, and billet input shaft. At one time the truck was at 400HP.
Yep, I found it and threw some stuff on that one for you to think about....
Try waiting at San Ysidro Baja in line to get back for 2+ hrs with a DTT and an 89% torque converter. Drive ,neutral. repeat a hundred times. When I got my 2007 One of the reasons I went manual this time.Dtt build. The only issues are heat backing up the 32' fifth wheel or sitting in traffic or creeping traffic which requires a shift to neutral. For traffic if I can get to 18mph in second the TC locks and drops the temp dramatically.
Have 160 K miles now and no issues. Only problem I've had is TC lock/unlock, and that was corroded and loose battery terminals putting noise on the 12V line. Things I did not do (i) buy it used, (ii) tow/carry significant weight, or (iii) increase the hp. My indep mechanic says the serious issues started with Dodge putting motors in front of the 47RE tranmission that make much more torque that it was designed to handle.just wondering how many have auto trans with no issues....and what you did to make them that way.
Bought my truck in 1998 with 48,000 miles. At 60,000 I installed a Mag Hytec double deep transmission pan. Do not due heavy pulling. 15,000lb 5th wheel has been most pulled. Longest trip 8000 miles over Rocky Mountains from Illinois and back. Now have 187,000 and original transmission without problems.just wondering how many have auto trans with no issues....and what you did to make them that way.
Man, GOT to get me one of those deep pans....
