HTT/ATS Manifolds...concrete evidence?

SPS62 and Crazy Larry?

They both seem to be quality pieces, I saw a small surge in people talking about the HTT a while back but haven't heard anything recently. Has anyone had them both? Anyone flow tested either or done cylinder temp testing to see if they provide any actual benefit? One more than the other?

I don't doubt the quality of either of these, even if they don't provide any real significant advantages they are certainly better than the stocker if only to get rid of the cracking problem.
 
I have had both on my truck. On the dyno I lost 15 hp with the ATS manifold. I did not show any gains or losses with the HTT. I believe that you will also enjoy the easier instalation of the HTT manifold. As far as temp differences I did not notice any. Just my 2 cents worth.

Well I just ordered the HTT exhaust manifold and went with the ATS intake manifold. From prior posts people prefer the HTT exhaust manifolds and they are pre tapped for pyro. I went with the ATS intake manifold because it has the pre tapped holes for water/meth and such (nitrous?) muahaha.

Was this on the same day, or even on the same dyno? Any other things that could have potentially affected these numbers?
 
that is interesting. I had heard in the past that the HTT manifold flowed more than the ATS. I never gave it much thought. Now I am wondering.
 
jkeyes, do you have any association with either company? Your 1st post said same truck and your second post says similar trucks :confused:

I'm not trying to put words in his mouth but I think he means that he had that result on his truck and another truck also saw those results between the 2 maniforlds. May be wrong but thats how I read it.

Actually the second post just says two different trucks had the same results with switching manifolds. One was his truck, the other wasn't. It makes no mention about similar trucks.
 
Imills is correct. My truck is stock. The other truck that I speak of is highly modified using nitrous different injectors, turbo, comp box, and some other misc. items. As far as my Affiliation/association with either company. I have had many dealings with both. I have used products from both and have choosen to do my business with HTT for many different reasons. But that is another story for another thread.

I'm not saying your info is inaccuate but I find it hard to believe as long as ATS manifolds have been on the market that this supposed loss of power issue has never been addressed before :confused:

Similar claims have been made in the past, most say ATS and stock are the same but I've seen peaple report from 5 to 15 HP losses before.

Are these dyno proven?



Most seat of the pants claims are a little better spool up and a little less EGT's.

These were supposedly done on dyno, I don't think anyone can feel 15hp in the seat of the pants. At any rate I personally don't think any hp changes had to do with the manifold, 15hp difference or more can be seen between any 2 dyno runs even if they are back to back with no changes. I was just letting you know that peaple in the past (over years) have noted a loss.

I am replacing mine because I don't want the stocker to crack, I don't expect any performance gain.
 
The following information I am providing will hopefully clear up any questions people might have about our manifold.



-Regarding the hp loss mentioned

Though anything is possible a loss in hp would be very unusual. The manifold is designed to flow better than the stock, and if you set the two side by side it is easy to see. Better flow reducing hp is not something that I have ever experienced. It would be easy to see why someone might think that they lost power looking at their boost gauge being as a 5psi loss is average. But all a boost gauge tells you is how much pressure is in the intake system, it does not show the volume of air being moved. Because the exhaust manifold flows better the turbo can move air into the cylinders and exhaust out of the cylinders with less pressure behind it. The slight loss in boost pressure is not at all a bad thing. Also because of this increased flow when used with a large turbo such as our Aurora 5000 it reduces surge because of the increased flow.



-The construction of the manifold

The manifold is made from a metal with a much lower carbon content than the factory one. It is the same metal content as the cylinder head, so it will expand and contract at the same rate with heat as the head. Also to ensure their is no stress during expansion and contraction we use a multi piece with our patented balljoint design, which provides a superior seal and maximum movement. The ports are machined to match the head for maximum flow. The nominal wall thickness is . 300in factory is . 200in. The flange surface where the bolts seat is . 500in factory is . 450in and the turbo flange thickness is . 690in factory . 570in to give you an idea of the dimensional improvments for strength. Our high temp coating is a two part epoxy type coating for durability. Along with our standard manifolds we offer the Bigfoot manifold with a larger turbo flange for big turbos.



Because of high demand we now offer our manifolds assembled and tapped for an EGT probe for our retail customers.
