Ahhh, don't talk to me about PODS, never had them. I have one of the last sets of cheap Bosch 185's and I like em.

I ran the truck for some time with just the fuel screw in a couple of turns past the lock. Then with that pump setting, all else pretty stock, I stepped up to the 185's. With the 33X12. 5 tires, 3. 55's, and 28,000#, the truck would run across I80 in Iowa, in OD with the cruise set at 72 mph all day long. Race Peterbuilts to the top of the hills. Now I've stepped up to 305/70R16s and the pyro is a problem, and the truck is working too hard. The tires are just plain too tall for towing heavy. Memorial day weekend I was towing two fullsize 4X4's on my 32' trailer, and a buddy was using his 99 dodge, 24 valve dually, SO pulling one truck on a bumper hitch trailer. I could keep up with him pretty good, a couple hills I was crowding him pretty hard. BUT I was fighting engine temp and pyro. When these tires are worn out, if not sooner, I'm going back to a 32" tall tire. I think alot of my problems will be gone.
A side note, pump timing was bumped last year at SOP, and I don't know if I like it there. I also shaved the washer on the A/F ratio and set the fuel pin to the most aggressive angle. Slight improvment in performance, nothing to write home about. The other day I ground on the fuel pin, and turned the high idle screw out of the way, allowing more travel of the throttle. Now I have much more black smoke, a few more pounds of boost, and a hotter pyro

. I just installed an AFE filter last night and ditched the air filter housing, but have not been on a test drive yet. Maybe tonight. I need to properly install the AFE with a tube and rubber boot, and 4" exhaust. Then maybe something with the turbo. Hey Bill, when are you sending me your old PRD 35/16?
Hope I'm not too long winded.
Michael
