this truck is a 99CTD with 250k all stock as far as engine performance. Been sitting pretty much untouched since 2012, about 6 months ago I started driving it again put roughly 10k on it an noticed head gasket leaking from right front corner.
Pulled the head and this is what I found, all six looked identical, appears to be a small puddle of diesel with gold flakes in all the piston bowls. Fuel filter and canister were clean as a whistle.
Any thoughts on where it might be coming from? I called blue chip diesel it’s NOT one of their pumps I was just looking for info, they told me it most likely was not coming from my VP44, truck was running like a top.

It has to be after the fuel filter if it looks clean. That leaves basically the injection pump, and injectors, but if it's in all 6 I wouldn't think injectors. Do the cylinder walls look ok?

You sure about the Diesel, isn't it just coolant in the bowls?
I mean where should the Diesel come from in that amount, the engine run fine till you shut it down to exchange the HG.

I am with ozy it wouldn’t run right. Is it possible return fuel ran down out of the return passage when you pulled the injectors? Or did the injectors get pulled and the key turned on for some reason that the lift pump would have turned on? Or is it coolant?
