Reese 15,000 5th wheel question

What size Solar Panel?

I work in a store that sell retaining wall block. Every once and a while a customer will come in with a newer truck and figure that it can hold and carry alot more than it should.

About 4 months ago I had the fun of loading a 2001 1 ton ford powerstroke. With a pallet of grass sod and a pallet of manorstone, I explained to the monkey that truck would not be able to handle weight, He with his high and mighty attitude said that it would. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of that poor truck drop frame to axle. The only suspension that truck had was the bulge in his tires in the rear.

He left with a smile on his face.

They got stuck because they didn't go in with enough speed! Not enough mud on the hood!

I had a 75 PowerWagon Full Time 4wd and it would've been coated with mud from the top down and I believe it would've made it through that puddle!

I posted this before. To show how young an dumb I really was.

6cyl ford 1/2 ton short box towing an 8' wide 43' trailer house from Vale Oregon to Seattle Washington. Put 2x4 blocks on the axles to keep the bumper off the ground. Yes I went down Pendleton grade. Yes I went up the steep grades from the Seattle waterfront. Yes I went across the Aurora bridge when it said "no trailer traffic between 4 and 6 pm. Would I do I again? NO,NO. NO. There needs to be a method to protect other motorist from the unsafe rigs. Over weight is absolutely unsafe.

Yes! I ment to type 8ft by 43ft, thanks.

8" X 43"? Don't you mean 8' X 43'?

I got this from http://www.nmsu.edu/~safety/news/auto-safety-overloaded-car1.htm

"This picture is real - not doctored in anyway - and was taken ... in Waldorf (Maryland?) by a Transportation Supervisor for a company that delivers building materials for 84 Lumber. When he saw it in the parking lot of IHOP, he bought a camera to take pictures.

The car is still running as can be witnessed by the exhaust. A woman is either asleep or otherwise out in the front seat passenger side. The guy driving it was over jogging up and down on Rt. 925 in the background. The witnesses said their physical state was OTHER than normal and the police just shook their heads in amazement. The driver finally came back after the police were there and was getting down at the back to cut the twine around the load. They told him to get back until it was taken off.

The materials were loaded at Home Depot. The store manager said they had the customer sign a waiver! Both back tires are trashed. The back shocks were driven up through the floorboard. In the back seat were 10 bags, 80 lbs. each of concrete. On the roof are many 2X4s, 4X4s and sheets of OSB. They estimated the load weight at 3000 lbs. The car is a VW Jetta with FL plates and the guy said he was headed for Annapolis.

UNBELIEVABLE????"

I think that someone took this pic after setting it up. I don't really think anybody is that dumb. None the less it looks pretty funny.

If you are refering to the fact that it says... "the picture is real... " read on, I remember about 1-2 years ago, getting this e-mail, and it had that written under it. Everything it says on that site was in that e-mail.

Infact, check out these sites out. All about this pic, and PLENTY more about it too... .

site 1

good site

great site

Even though these claim to be real, I STILL think this was a setup.

Just my $. 09,

Barry,

Boy would I do up a typed & signed simple doc stating "Sold As Is" & "I recommend that you ck the specs of your truck before towing", or something like that. Slimebag attorneys ...

We walked off the lot of Saddleback RV after one of their salesmen was agreeing with a customer that his Silverado 1500 would handle the triple slide 34' fifth wheel he was trying to sell him... ... ..... Other salesman followed me and asked why we were leaving- I replied "For some reason, I just don't trust you here. . "

The puzzled look on his face:D

Barry drove all the way to Phoenix yesterday to deliver one of his Frantz oil filters to me! Talk about good service. :)

He did pick up a 5th wheel to make the trip worthwhile.

Trailer dummies

I ran into a guy that asked me to come and look at his ball hitch in the bed of his truck(for pulling a goosneck trailer). The ball was not fastened to the hitch assembly!!? You could pull it out of its socket. He asked if I thought this was normal!! He had just pulled a goosneck trailer over 350 miles on freeway. His logic was that with the hitch weight it would be ok?!! This is a colledge grad. I hate to think of all the other idiots out there that do dumber things than that. Makes me bieleve each time we get home safley it is just by the grace of God.

Don't kid yourself about dumb people. CHP stopped a Motorcycle with an 8 foot surf board tied on SIDEWAYS on the rear. He had driven 175 miles from LA to Santa Maria,CA. I guess there are no sharp curves between here and there. :D :D :D

Hey that thing probably had 1K tongue weight. It could not possibly come off...

Reminds me of pulling a U-Haul with defective surge brakes years ago. Bolt on ball stretched significantly and never broke. Dana 60 axle had perfect conical fracture. Did I say how much I hate surge brakes?
