Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) In need of a computer for '01

My friends father has a 2001 2500 4X4 auto and has been having some problems with it, he is pretty sure it is the computer. Does anyone know where you could get one other than the dealer? They quoted him like $2K for the computer, he may just trade it in on a half ton if he can not get one cheaply, the dealer offered him good money for it even with the bad computer.

If your needing the ecm (engine computer) I have a good one for a 01 year ctd , also what is your truck doing? thanks Joey

The ECM is what is needed, it is not my truck it a friends father's. I asked and they just said it was running bad and they had two places check it and say it was the computer. I know it could be many other things and I would think it would be unlikely it was the ECM but they were insistent on the ECM. I will see him tomorrow and find out if he can tell me exactly what it is doing.

auto or manual? If auto, how much will you part with it for (if Bertram65 doesn't need it).

I dont know if its a auto or std, I bought it for my 2000 and found out it will not work on my year truck, I will sell it for $250 plus shipping. I have the #s if you need them, thanks !

Any one need a PCM for a 01 automatic? I have one of those too!
