Morning all... did an oil change on my Ram last night and changed the type of oil I have been running as well.

I was running Rotella 15w-40 basically for the entire life of the truck (118,000 miles) but due to the very cold temps this winter and the frequent cold starts my truck has to endure out on jobs sites I thought I would switch to Rotella's fully synthetic 5w-40 till the weather warmed up.

The truck seemed to get oil pressure faster than normal this morning (is always plugged in at night) but I noticed a much higher level of vibration in the cab when the truck was warm and ideling. I have never heard the change rattle in the ash tray before.

Am I doing damage to the engine with this viscosity change?

I seriously doubt that increased vibration is EVER a good thing...

Thanks in advance, Greg

DELO 400 15W40 flows better in the winter here in Colorado than Rotilla ;).

I use the Rotilla 15W40 in the summer ;). No change rattling :D:D
