i got my PS super 66 that i bought from Doug at ADT installed on tues night, with about 100 miles or so on the turbo i can safely say that this thing is everything that Doug and Brady said it would be. truck mods are 370's, 100 plate, timing at 19, EEP custom pistons, race cam all backed by a DTT billet auto with an 89% tc. this turbo id completely different than my old pdr 40 (which was a good turbo, but wouldnt handle all the fuel) with the 40 i could easily hit 1350 (still climbing) at 65 mph, the 40 had a def dead spot of lag at low rpms. with the 66 there is no dead spot it does spool at low rpms and the truck does pick up speed but at 8-10 lbs this thing lights and the boost gauge is at 45 (max so far) in the blink of an eye, it is wild. now for the one down fall, which is not a big deal. the comp surge is not a big deal, the truck wont do it to me, i have to make it surge. this is the only way that i can get it to surge. in OD at low rpms about 55-60 roll hard on the throttle and it is fine, pulls real hard and at about 30 lbs it starts to surge, now it you let up and roll back into it it is fine bc once you get above about 1900 rpms it runs fast and hard. there is only about 100-150 rpm range that you have to think about. now to easily drive around the surge and make the truck go even faster, is to unlock the TC if you are going to accelerate hard or drop it down to 3rd (which is prob better for the trans anyway) and get the rpms up and then hit OD it absolutely flys. Doug has told me about thie turbo since jan and it is everything that he has ever said and after talking to brady the charger has lived up to everything that he has said also. in my opinion it is one mean turbo and it really woke my truck up. it is nice being able to break the tires free in OD doing 60mph. i highly recomend this charger to anyone with some extra fuel to burn, give ADT or Industrial Injection a call and order one of these turbos. i went with the 66 instead of going to twins simply goign on what Doug C. told me about it, and i dont regret it a bit.

I wonder how this Turbo would work with a comp box and a set of Dom M 4's

on a 24v would it be enough fuel to light it up with little lag at the bottom end???

Scott

From the reports so far, it should light between 1600, and 1750 RPM.

My HX40 lights at 1600 with just M4's and an EZ. With the Blue Box thrown in, it lights at 1500.

Poor Poor little HX40!!! :( :( I feel sorry for it all the time.

Hey Brett, I have a question that I know you can answer.

What is the diameter of the little end of the turbine shaft on the PS66?

dont want this happening!!!!!

Thanks for the correctly valved report! :D Alittle more specific though what rpm would you say the PDR 40 lit at, and what about this PS-66? What would you say (if you can) your max. egt drop is? And lastly have you been on a dyno? If so what is your numbers, before and after turbo swap would've been perfect ;)

havent been on a dyno since the new motor, my 40 lit at about 1500 and this one sounds off at about 1600, but it is dif than the 40, this one you can feeel it begin to spool then grad gets faster than bam you are at 45 lbs. it is nice. egts went down at least 200, i havent done enough cruising to compare yet but wot is down a great deal, i can actually drive my truck hard now past 60 in a hard acceleration. it is a great turbo.

That shaft looks very bad. Nice failure! I don't have the exact measurement right now but will get it soon. But besides the FAT shaft size that this turbo has we also incorporate a set of extreme duty bearings that totaly helps load bearing issues as in high boost pressures and maximizes longevity. Turbo is solid!

RE: 3D Model

Oh sorry my bad. I should have looked closer. Yesterday was crazy at work. I would have looked at an injector and called it a turbo yesterday! I will make those measurments my self and post in the AM. Later

got phatty up to 50 lbs today, would like to get to 55 then leave it alone. with the more miles this thing is beccoming a blast to drive. it is nice when this dtt auto bangs gears with this new turbo the truck picks up speed even just in town driving. also cant get the pyro over 1280 or so, and that was at 100mph

RE: Phat Shaft 66

Just got back from Denver. We had gone over to ATS's Diesel Truck Fest. I came home with trophy in hand for quick truck bracket. (13. 99-7. 50 bracket) We appreciate the hospitality that was shown by all the crew at ATS. If you have never been to their race and faciility, you need to go. My Phat Shaft Super 66 came through again with little to no smoke and great horse power. There were a lot of people telling us to install propane and NOS, however that decission will be made at a later date. Thanks www.industrialinjection.com

Brett, did you guys have a dyno event there of was it just trucks, that might be the tests of all tests, if it will work in Denver in the summer it should work every were.

Jim

i would like to say that after i added my 0 plate and slide it forward as far as i could as well as the afc housing, first i noticed that i could spool the phatty faster off the line, and it still lites at 1700 rpms, i went out and rolled into the throttle about 60 in lockup where the surge used to take place, it is gone i do not have anymore compressor surge, i tried it again tonight and it did not surge, i stopped at 100mph and also my boost went up to 50lbs. and some icing on the cake, my fuel mileage went up, haha i couldnt believe it. i run at high rpms, constantly running upwards of 35 psi, all of this should have taken fuel mileage down, but it didnt. dang now i need more fuel, time to call Doug C.

Yes that is the feed back page where Scott left his comments about our turbo. He is a great guy and knows diesel trucks. Thanks

Why do I find that funny... ... . :-laf

RE: Phat Shaft 66

I can say this that Scott knows how to run that truck at truck pulls! How is he and everyone running latley? Just trying to stay in touch.

Well Brett, I can honestly say that my turbo is doing excellent. Im learning how this charger likes to be driven and I have the wastegate dialed in where I want (spike to 47-48 then falls to 45), and I just got my exhaust parts coated. Check them out in my Readers Rigs. I will try to dyno saturday to see where im at now, last was 450 HP in the heat so I think with some pressure I may make 500, but its easy to tell my truck has alot longer legs now!
