I will have some data soon for the 12 valve guys. I am putting a Super Phat shaft 66 on a 450 ? hp 12v that had an HX-40 on it.

Seems like I have done this a few times. I have to use someone elses truck this time the bolts on my truck are all worn out.

RE: Phat Shaft 66

I or we just pulled the 2800 SCR MAXUM (13,000) LBs with my 04. 5 Dodge truck. We did this as a test with a automatic transmission. We drove up Parley's canyon to see what performance we could measure. We were able to run as fast as 85mph but faster would have been very unsafe but more speed could have been done easily. Pyro. temps were 1300 deg range and with the water meth switched on the temps dropped to 1150 deg. We then were driving up the Sisters in Wyoming and 95mph was easily done but very dangerous. As we drove up over to Flamming Gorge Lodge we had to drive up 8% grades and hair pin turns and switch backs, the turbo performed great very easy acceleration at any time and speed did'nt ever become a issue. Thanks www.industrialinjection.com

I was looking at Parley's canyon for an altitude and it seems that it's up there quite a bit from SLC, I don't have an altitude of the Sisters in WY.

I think Blair has a good test bed with a 450 hp 12V using a 40.

Keep the data flowing when you get a chance.

RE: Phat Shaft 66 Turbo

When this turbo spools up it gets in front of the fueling curve and stays there. Most people say it spools quicker than their HX40. Thanks

RE: Phat Shaft 66 Turbo

Any one going to Bully Dogs Race/Truck pull this week end? We will be there with our trucks. We will bring 2 04. 5 trucks and 1 99 truck. All have Fat shaft turbos. See you there.

Where does it light? My HX40 lights at 1600 RPM on my VP44 pumped truck?

How does the rotational inertia of the PS66 compare to a HX40?

Diesel Freak,

With all due respect:

An HX40 compaired to one of these type of "Schwitzer" based modified turbos lights completely different.

I ran a 2 different PDR40's on my old 99 and they were completely different animals.

These newer style types (b1's, htt's, IIPS's) are superior in spooling and spool faster once they start to light. They hit harder I guess in so many words.

It's all semantics.

I am just currious about the rotor mass difference between the two. That has a large an affect on how the turbo spools, and responds to throttle input.

RE; Phat Shaft Turbos At Bullydog, Dog Days.

I just wanted to check in with results that we have on another dyno and a 2nd gen truck this time. We Industrial Injection took two trucks to Dog Days of Summer in Aberdene Idaho. There were alot of trucks there and we got there a little late but Bullydog staff was great to everyone. Good Experience! We had Brady's truck there (04. 5 Dodge) and Cody's truck there (1999 Dodge). I have posted horse power results on this 04. 5 Dodge before. This dyno run came out 568hp and 1075fpt. This was the highest 3rd gen horse power truck there. (I didn't take my truck) The results on the 2nd gen 24 valve truck was 579hp and 1193fpt. Not bad but was not the highest for a 2nd gen truck. BUT was the highest for a single turbo charger. We met quite a few people there. Some from the Northwest bombers. Great guys! It would be fun to hang with those guys. We are talking about making a trip to the northwest to one of their events. What were the EGTs and boost on the 2nd gen?

What Cooker said... how exactly was the 24v configured?

If someone was running an external wastegate, can you build that turbo without the gate like the non-gated B1s?

Can you build it to take the B1 style downpipe or is it HX40 only?

What are drive pressures at say 45psi boost?

RE: Bullydog Dyno Event

First of all the 24 valve 99 truck is built like this. Phat Shaft SUPER 66, IIS Stage 3 injectors, IIS Hot rod VP44 injection pump, TST Power Max 3, Fass Fuel System, AFE intake, 4 inch Stainless Exhaust, ATS Transmission/ with trans. command and Dipricol Gauges. We can take it higher on horse power but the smoke level is very low and Cody likes it that way. (579hp/1193fpt) The spool up on this turbo is awsome, when it spools it hits the waste gate and is at full boost. It gets infront of the fueling curve. Some trucks with little to no fuel regulation at low RPM may have some smoke but the smoke clears and horse power rolls. The EGT's are in the 1250 deg. max range. I told some of the guys at Bullydogs event why and how it all works. I watched Scott at the Bullydog truck pull take the sled (looked like he was going to the hotel) well past the full pull markers. But you should talk to him about all that. We had alot of fun, we will go again but will plan for more time with everyone. Please keep in touch with TDR you may like the news that will be released. Thanks to all. www.industrialinjection.com

I briefly talked to a few of you guys (I'm bad with names - sorry!) and listened in as you discussed your PS66 turbo with one of my buddies that already has a SP66 and he left the discussion very impressed (since he can relate to your comparisons) as was I with your no BS, straight-to-the-point explanations.

BTW I just downloaded my digital cam pics and found that I snapped some pictures of the white Industrial Injection truck on the dyno looking for some action, smoke shots and didn't get any! Big Bad Dodge and CSutton (?), on the otherhand, holy rolling coal smoke!

RE: Phat Shaft Turbos

Luke I didn't mean to skip anything. Cody's truck ran 50psi regulated by the wastegate. His EGT's run about 1250 deg. And yes we can make you a turbo that is non wastegated. If we can give you some ideas for were you would like to go with the non wastegate we would be happy to help. We have very knowledgable people that work for us and your needs are our needs. Thanks
