Getting ready to run the valves and would like to identify which injectors are in the motor since I bought this truck used. Are the injectors marked in any way for identification? Thanks, Moe

90% of the over sized injectors on the market are standard Bosch tips that have been bored or honed out. Some of the better ones have a 7th hole instead of the standard 6 and were made from blank tips.

IIRC there were 3 or 4 OEM tip numbers for the stock and RV 275. It will require disassembly to see the part number. The body PNs should be the same.

About the only way to find out is to have them flow tested. If the engine is running smooth, don't worry about it. If you want to change injectors, they are cheap enough (unless you start looking into the Mach EDMs)

Thanks Sticks. Its more work than I am qualified to do. Engine runs smooth although I suspect an injector might be leaking. Oil looks a little contaminated with fuel. Jusy going to check the valves at 190000 miles. Maybe someone in Ohio might be available to help out with installing a new set of 275s.

Injector replacement is fairly easy, and there is satisfaction in doing it yourself. Do a search on "Installing Injectors" and you will be sure to find someone who has done a step by step write up.

If you have suspicion of a leaking injector, a quick and easy test for contamination in the oil is to take a cheap fast food napkin and place a drop of engine oil off the dipstick (warm/running). You will see a "not so dark" ring around the drop spread out/soak into the napkin faster than the rest. That would be fuel.

Not necessarily a leaking injector can be the cause. Bad O-ring on an injector, cross over tube are other places that can cause fuel to get mixed into the oil.
