Just to let all know. Bought new tires, Michelin LTX MS 215-85-R16 Load range E, 6 each for my 94 3500. Always had balance problems. Bought em at WalMart and purchased the "lifetime balance". Well they got tires mounted and found they did not have correct adapter for balance machine. They brought out some kind of wierd adjustable thing for mounting to balance machine which I had no faith in. Turns out I was right, more shake and shimmy than I had ever had. Complained and Manager said he would get correct adaptor to balance my tires. OK. About a month later they had adaptor and I had the tires rebalanced. Guy balancing tires said " man they were really out of balance (no kidding i say), should be great now. Get on the road and same deal Bad Balance - or No balance. Weights varied from 2oz. - to 6oz. per tire. Don't know squat about balancing tires , but my experience is any tire taking over 3. 5 - 4 oz. weight is just not going to ride smooth, or last long.
Having read many threads here about balance beads I decided to go for it. Bought form Innovative Balancing, ceramic beads, 4oz per tire as per their chart. Bought the filtered valve cores. Had no idea how much goop or slop WalMart used to lube the beads to mount tires. When I removed valve cores to deflate tires prior to installing beads 2 tires blew out some moisture. Used the little applicator bottle and poured in the beads. Not as bad putting beads in as some here have said but it is a little tedious.
Old Truck ain't never been so smooth. I will go to Wal Mart and try to get a refund on the "lifetime balance" ?????? Just thought some of you may want to know. I am satisfied with the beads.
