If it's on "national backorder"
That's the industrial standard today. don't blame Chrysler for it. every European stick shift is built that way since many many years and usually the sealed system works flawlessly a cars life long.
here it failed because of a production issue, that can happen it's all man made.

I don't dispute this, but I wonder if Ram went cheaper on the supplier for this unit than the European companies and earlier model rams?

If it is on 2 week national back order, could that mean there are alot of failures? Or are they just selling more G56 models?

More likely they sell so few they don’t keep much in stock beyond production. Any part with a true failure history is on the dealer shelves.

So what did they do for the fix? Just add fluid and now it is empty again? Or did they change out the unit only that was not the issue and now the real issue is back?

comrade - they changed the entire hydraulic assembly - the master/slave cylinder. it all comes as one piece. its a " unit " according to the book. the new unit appears different in appearance from the old one, and has a different " clamp " on the bottom of the reservoir. i can see no fluid leaks anywhere. cheers!

Maybe they changed it to make it more durable? Sounds like it did not take 2 weeks. Glad they got you up and running

Oh. Didn't see that.

I see the sarcasm in your "great news" comment

Why are you spending ANY money on towing with an ‘18 w/6800 miles???

comrade gs - because the companies that tow, figure out where i live and get their panties in a twist, then cancel. waited today from 4 pm till 7 with a window up until 10 pm from the multiple companies offered from ram. they either cancelled or extended the window multiple times....i can hire a tow company that has no issue coming here, which will save me time sitting here, and counting hairs on my stump - if you get my drift. cheers comrade!

Man that sucks! After reading about all the G56 issues folks have had here and on other forums, I am glad I ordered my new truck with the Aisin. I had an issue with the clutch slave cylinder on a 1998 truck a few years back. I replaced it myself and it was the "all in one" sealed unit too. My 1996 and 2003 both have the sealed unit and have never had an issue. I did "sort of change" the fluid in the 1996 by taking a shop towel and soaking up the fluid in the reservoir, then replacing it. It was a murky gray color. This was probably nearly 15 years ago and it still works slick.

Thats horrible luck I guess. Approaching 100 company trucks with this transmission and never had a warranty issue on any of them (related to the transmission or clutch). I can give you a laundry list on the other warranty issues but thats another discussion.

been back at dealer for 2 full days. no estimate on when i will get it back. oh well, could be worse i guess. cheers comrades!

Not sure how hard your dealer is trying. It shows about 8 dealers with stock, although those could be for a customer. There are only 10 special handling orders in the system with 42 pieces in process. It would be odd that two failed in exactly the same manner. I would ask the dealer for the order number.

comrade sag2 - does the " order number " mean the Ram parts guys order for the hydraulic master/slave unit? if so, if they give me an order number what do i do with that? thanks for your input and reply. cheers!

Any chance there’s a bad shift fork or a bad throw-out bearing causing the assemblies to go?

In any event....that countdown clock to Lemon Law is still ticking away in your favor.
