Can anyone tell me how to get the front headlight assembly out of a 04. 5 3500 CTD? I replaced my fogs easily, but I am having a problem getting to the headlights. I removed the two star bolts attached to the radiator frame, but there still is another long star bolt just inside headlight assembly. Does this need to come out also? I am installing Sylvania White Star bulbs. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This is the first vehicle I have owned that has bulbs, everything else is sealed beam and easy to change. Thanks.

FWiessing,

After you remove the two bolts on the radiator. There is one more bolt, 10mm that you have to remove. The bolt is located between the bumper and the headlamp assembly. If you look there located under the corner lamp and the outside (looking at the truck) headlamp bulbyou will see the bolt head. Protect your bumper with a towel or such to prevent the paint from getting damaged. After you remove the bolt, the headlamp can be tricky to remove since they have a clip on the top. But once you pull out the headlamp you will be home free. :D

If your is the same as the 2005, you will find another star screw just like the other two on the lower outsid of the headlight assembly. you will need something long to get into it. The long star that you are seeing is the adjustment screc, up and down.

Good luck;

www.xenondepot.com sells real ultra high intensity discharge bulbs for our trucks, if you want the very best in lighting. their kit's are around $250-$450 I believe, but definitely worth the money. As a side note, I don't recommend HID lighting on trucks that are used for off-road out on the trail. Nothing worse than off-roading at night, behind a vehicle with HID, but they are super for the road, almost make high-beams un necessary.
