I'll post this as well, just in case people don't check multiple forum.

A few months back I run into a pamphlet from Mopar advertising a series of Sever Duty filters. I think they are from pre-2013 trucks, but in essence it includes a pre filter for fuel (similar to what the 2013+ have stock) as well as a different tank ventilation system that adds a filter to trap dust.

They used to be expensive but with time they got very cheap and are available on eBay, probably as overstock.

In any case, the pre filter is well documented in multiple post, while the tank ventilation system is not. I couldn't find much info on it. All it all it was 50 bucks and it's made of 2 parts. The first is a tubing cut to length to relocate the vents and the second is a filter element.

The idea is that as fuel is drawn from the tank the displaced fuel has to be replaced with air. So air flows from the outside to the inside. Dirt particles can essentially travel in the tank: they are captured by the filters so they shouldn't be a problem; but in high dust area this could result in quicker saturation of the filter elements.

So stock vents are very similar to the ones you see on the diff vents:

The kit to install the vent filter look like this:

To gain the necessary access you should remove the rear driver side wheel well cover and the plastic cover by the fuel cap.

The first steps requires the installation of the mounting bracket for the filter. This is placed in inner side of the bed, right behind the front most tow hook. Here's the area:

The instructions call for drilling the bed. I don't like drilling sheet metal so instead I used some epoxy putty to secure the bracket.

With thet you then remove the stock vents, attach the hose to the two vents and mount the filter to the bracket.

One thing I noticed is that the inner side of the small section of hose used for the stock vent was covered with dust signaling that indeed dust get in. I'd be curious to know if the 2013 have a different kind of tank ventilation.
