My Smarty s06 pod came in today and on the intallation instructions it says the truck needs to be back to stock before installing. So does that mean i need to take my edge ez off then install the smarty, then put the ez back on after installation is complete? Thank you in advance for any help.

i am no expert. but yes. put that at stock, or whatever they call it, remove or unhook it. do the smarty and then put or hook up the edge.

the smarty is the main one, the edge will stack/be on top of the smarty in terms of programing.

Ok. I can't seem to find what the rail pressure setting is other Smarty on sw5. The reason I want to make sure its set to stock is so I don't overdo it when. I hook up the EZ. With the Smarty on number 5 and the ez unhooked it drives almost identical to when I had the EZ on 3 which is supposed to be 90hp. So that makes sense. Anybody who's do e this combination before have any advice?

I have only removed my EZ while trying to troubleshoot/isolate problems. The Smarty doesn't care whether or not the EZ is connected. The options menu is where you will find the pressure settings on the Smarty, but when you change an option, then you have to reload the SW# before the option changed will be made.

My EZ is on #2, stays there always, Smarty pressure at #1. I have tried using the different Smarty pressure settings without the EZ, and my truck did not perform as well, plus the Smarty pressure seemed rather irratic, not as smooth, at least according to my rail press gauge.

JJPage i see that you have a DTT transmission, how do you like it? I should be getting mine within the next few weeks. Being as how i don't have it yet, i put my smarty on 5 and set the rail pressure on smarty to stock. so is 3 on the ez too much?

Very fond of my DTT trans.

Kind of depends which EZ you have, mine is an early version that has 6 settings. The later versions had the extra pins clipped, then even later, the in cab switch for 1 thru 3.

I would guess if your EZ on 3 is supposed to be 90hp, then that's alot of pressure. My truck just likes the EZ on 2, I have dynoed with the other settings, and when my truck was stock except for the EZ and AFE intake they did increase hp. Now it seems to make little difference above 2, you can hear the injectors rattle harder, but dyno results proved the extra pressure was not worth the risk.

Hope that helps, Jess

You will not need to remove the EZ before uploading the SMARTY tune. The EZ is a pressure box and fools by conditioning the signals from the MAP and Rail pressure sensors. The SMARTY reprograms various parameters in the ECM it won't know the EZ is there.

I used to run the EZ & SMARTY but found I like the way the SMARTY work alone better that with the EZ.
