Engin Rebuild

I'm having the same problem. My truck has not been at the dealer since I've owned it and I'm using the latest update for my Jr. So, did the problem come with the latest update? I'm wondering if I reprogram the Jr. to the older software will it remove the alleged "glitch". Have the dealers come up with a way to reprogram?

Thanks

It's looking more and more like it's not a glitch, especially on lower hp trucks. The latest Jr software gave you the latest Chrysler software. There is no going back.

You probably do have higher return flow, and should have it checked out.

I have plans to take it in this week. So I should have my Mechanic follow DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE P1223 - LEAK DETECTION BASED ON QUANTITY BALANCE?

Here's an update on my truck:

I took it to my local dealer Service Dept. and they check the flow rates, pressure values and tire pressure or what ever the tests are and came up with two injectors (#s 5 & 6) that have serious problems and one (#2) that will have serious problems. So I have 6 new injectors ordered from my local injector/fuel pump shop ($280 ea. for Bosch factory remans. ) and should have them installed (not by the Dealer) next week. With any luck that will take care of my p1223 DTC and I should be running hot again.

By the By, my Dealer did not charge me for the diagnostics. Maybe I have that rare breed of "A Good Dealer Service Dept. "

New update:

We replaced all of the injectors but are still getting a P1223 DTC. It was obvious that a least one injector was leaking. So, now what? Anyone have any ideas? The truck runs great after you clear the code, that is until it comes back and then it defuels the engine and cuts the power. Anyway, where should I look next?

Thanks

They should do the same tests and replace the bad injector that remans are notorious for.

Of course they also could have goofed up the install one way or another. Either way its their baby.

Dealer did the Leak Down test and all Injectors show good. Still displaying DTCs PO148, 1222 and 1223. Anyone have any ideas?

Say what? I think you need to find a different dealer if they can't figure it out.

P0148 High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) Fueling Error Checksum

The P1222 and P1223 is the Dodge software saying there is a problem, they should have an idea how to fix it. The P0148 could be causing the other codes due to a bad rail pressure sensor or bad FCA.

That is if they did the return flow test correctly. If they did not do it per the test specs they will get bad info.

I read somewhere that before flashing with this latest software to disconect fuel pumps
Idk I haven't had to deal with this yet

Where is the FCA located? In my Shop Manual it talks of the fuel pressure limiting valve located on top of the fuel rail. Is that it?

Thanks

the 0148 is to be corrected before the other 2

I believe the FSM doesn't consider the FCA a serviceable item, it says to change the CP3.

We do service it,there is a tsb from way back when that includes the part number. They used to revise the service manual to reflect revisions-that no longer happens,Everything has gone digital. I have pointed out mistakes in the FSM to the point of arguing over the phone with no action taken

That kind of response (I get it too at times) makes you just want to grab the little twenty-something on the other end of the phone and plunk them down in front of the angry customer instead of hiding behind the corporate e-mail system... . twerps.....

There are still some that care but they are slowly retiring so my personal pool of "get-something-frigin'-done" contacts are diminishing.

Mike. :)

You can obtain the FCA from Cummins as well as Ram. I was supplying my local Dodge dealer with FCA's long before the Dodge tsb came out.

Mike.

That sounds like the Army pubs system :)

I am sure after the first few warranty CP3's for a FCA Dodge realized they were losing money.

What should the labor cost be on the replacement?
