tonite I took of the afc and made a plate to go on it instead. It was too dark to see an increase in smoke. It sonly a mile to work so im going to leave it off tomarrow, I guess it wont hurt?I talked to my mechanic and he said he was going to drill something out on the aneroid. What exactly does the overflow valve do?

if i remember right tst has overflow valves and they are 60-70 dollars or tdi in indiana ,,, as far as what the overflow valves does,,, someone chime in and explain please i don't want to tell him wrong ,,, what is your mechanic drilling out or off the aneroids???

The overflow valve is used to regulate fuel pressure supply to the injection pump plungers. The engine will run good with really low pressure. However, it will get hard to start. When my overflow valve failed a couple of months ago fuel pressure was down to 6 PSI before I got home. It ran good which really surprised me. When I turned it off on my garage it refused to start. I replaced it with one from TST. My idle is now about 30 PSI. Running down the road with no load is 40 PSI or close to it.

It's not that easy on a 12 valve. If you want to do a temporary check you need an adapter to fit the bleed screw on the fuel filter. If you want to install a permanent gauge (recommended) then drill and tap the banjo fitting bolt to 1/8" NPT where the fuel line from the fuel filter goes into the injection pump. You need a needle valve to dampen the pressure spikes from the lift pump. Barely open enough for the gauge to work.

I replaced the lift pump and overflow valve and the truck didnt run any different. I called Jim Jessup and he said to put the 370 tips on the 215 bodies and see if that makes a difference. If that doesnt work I think im going to pull the injection pump and have it looked at. I still cant figure out whats wrong with it.
