Now that I'm equipped with DTT's vb and tc I find myself driving with the edge on level 2 and 3 a lot more. Natch, I'm keeping a close eye on egt's, and once I hang the Jardine 4" pipes things ought to settle in nicely. My major concern now is lift pump and injection pump longevity. I have Vaughn's 1/2" braided lines from the lift pump up. Recently I read a post by JRE regarding their 1/2" fuel line system and how it shaved a tenth off their truck's 1/4 mile time. Does anyone care to comment on the product regarding benefits and ease of installation?

have you actually tested your fuel pressure ?

first thing i would do is modify the banjo bolts on the lift pump and change its electrical supply ie: add a relay that is switched on by the key and supplies a straight 12 volts from a hi current battery supply , put a 20 amp fuse in the battery supply line , the factory varying the supply voltage is part of what is causing the pumps to fail , the other part is its placement . i'd move it back closer to the tank, actually replace it with a better pump so that you can eliminate the banjo bolts . electric pumps prefer to push the fuel than to pull it .

if after you do these things and you still have lo pressure then the larger pickup is the next step.

from what i have been told by the guys with big HP , you don't see the stock line size as a problem till you get over 550 - 600 flywheel HP . i have gone 14. 9 in the 1/4 with NO SLICKS ... with all the factory fuel lines and pump , but that will change shortly as i know my fuel pressure disappears at full throttle , i am going to do it in steps and report to the board my findings , i am close to 475 hp at the flywheel presently .

on my 2000 ram 2500 the lift pump has been replaced twice,i have 32000 miles on it. what do you guys think ,can it be replaced with an electric fuel pump from a gas fuel injected engine for example a BOSCH fuel pump that most fuel injected cars use?they are very reliable and last a long time. any thoughts ?

yes you can switch to a fuel pump from a gasser ,you want 15psi pressure , unless it says not to use with #2 fuel . most guys that switched have gone with a holley , mallory or latest is a barry grant pump. move it towards the tank and change circuit to what i describe above . the biggest restriction is the banjo bolts , the hole thru them is smaller than the line size , they can be drilled to a larger size that is less a restriction , best thing to do is replace them with a swept 90* fitting , least restriction . 3/8 line size will be good till you get around 600 hp , then you would benifit from a larger pickup . first thing to do is get a pressure gauge on the inlet to the injection pump , check to see what pressure drops to with your foot on the firewall . ideal is at least 5psi , the more up to 15psi the better .

thanks mopar muscle, i am thimking of changing it myself as the truck is still under warranty. do you think it will affect the warranty ?
also can you tell what kind fuel pressure gauge do you think is suitable as there are both outside mounted and inside mouted as well. please mention the brand and model if possible.
thanks
