Re quotes on new trucks:
I bought my new 2500 Ram H/O, re 48,
4x4, swb, SLT quad cab back in May of this year.
Initially I went to the library and studied
the invoice on new trucks which shows what a
dealer of American made vehicles makes from
the invoice which amounts to this.
$309. 00 (a refund on interest for the
vehicle, figured from the departure
from the factory)
4% percent of the gross called "holdback"
money, some manufacturers pay 3 per
cent.
12% or very close to 12% mark up, I figured 11 % on mine.
To shorten the story I took $4400 dollars and
the $398 dollars of various fees, a total of
$4798 from the sticker price, then I got the
$2000 dollar rebate and bought the truck. A
total of $6798 off the sticker price. We had
been close to $3000 difference and I just
offered him my bottom price. He took it
after about 10 or 15 mins which means I could
have bought it cheaper. I left him with his
"hold out" money in the amount of about $1600
which is gracious aplenty for a dealer to make,
also I got 2 years of free lube and oil changes.
The truck listed for 40,650 dollars with the
options, fancy radio, wheel rims, big tires, etc.
If you order the truck try to get all of the mark
up and some of the "hold back" money if you can,
after all he has no money in the vehicle at that
stage. Chev's mark up on the same equipped
truck is about $6000 and Ford is about $5300.
The more options that you have the more the
markup and "hold back" money he has. Also I
had them fill it up like GM does.
Why don't you pull up Kelley Blue Book and
build your truck then you will see what the
invoice price is as opposed to the suggest
retail price. (on your computer)
