Has anyone ever been to KC?

I just got back. I'm FREAKIN BLOWN AWAY!!!!

The night shoot was something that just cant be replicated unless youre in person.

The gun show was great!

The food... . eh well ... made me sick. At least the hot dog I ate did. :{

The volume of fire when I was arriving... well, I couldnt tell if it was gunfire a flame thrower,or a jet engine spooling up. It was THAT MUCH!

Total SICKNESS!

If you have a kid, you GOT TO BRING THEM!!!

OH, YEAH!! Been twice, loved it!!! Did they launch the model airplane with glowsticks on the wings for the night shoot?!?! That was sooo much fun!! They launched it during the day, and it flew around until it finally ran out of fuel!! I went in '03? and '05, I think it was. What a blast!! They had a mini-gun that made the ground shake when it went off..... I could go on, but if you've been there, it's not news to you!!

I spoke with a couple people here about it.

They kinda step back and want to reach for the phone to call 911. :-laf

Poor sheep. Dont even know it's legal to own such things in the FREE USA. :D

I gotta say, a 30-45 second burst from a Minigun can sure put a smile on your face. :D

They didnt have any ariel targets. Buses, boats & such. Lots of 55 gal drums with diesel in them. Oo. Oo. Oo.

There was a guy with a trailer mounted cannon!!! The entire place sort of stopped whenever that went off. Or so it seemed.

When the 1919's and water cooled 30's were being shot, they seemed small after the 50's & such were at it.

The full auto AK's and M4's were like toy pop guns. :D

I GOT TO go back!!!

I borrowed a friends M14 for the plane shoot. I emptied a 30rounder at that stinking plane and I think I shot all around it, but I couldn't hit it!!! Neither could anyone else!! There was a write-up on it in the Very High Power Journal a few back and the writer aptly described the night shoot at the RC plane as looking like "Midnight over Baghdad!!" That was pretty funny, I thought!!

I took my Barrett out for some long range fun, but I ended up watching most of the time. The firing line was 1900' long that year!!! I can't remember the guy's name that had the 40mm cannon... ... what a "Blast!!" :D That's one thing I really want to take my wife and kids to, someday. I think even my wife would like that kind of shooting!!

I've wanted to attend for some time. Just couldn't make it! There was a local MG shoot out on the Eastern Plains, a few years back but had to work. DANG! Yep, lots to see and shoot! GregH

Been there a couple times. Wife hates it idk why :confused:. My best manly guess is that we leave there with my idea box working in overdrive and a couple months later... a couple of k's mysteriously leave the bank account for some reason. Next to that and a letter addressed to the house from the ATF with a funny stamp. . thank god she hasnt caught on yet... . :-laf In any case, if you havent been to KC for the annual gun show, i would HIGHLY suggest you go. Next to the SHOT show, this would probably rank #2 or #3 (depending on if you have been to Thunder Ranch and have endured their 2 square block shoot town)... my . 02

I want to go to SHOT, but you need to be connected to the industry somehow to get in.
I sell small parts & such locally, but I dont generate the $$$ that companies would like for them to send me a pass. :{
Maybe someday..... :eek:

Edit: My Wife would HATE knob creek! Not that she dont like guns, but the noise and smoke. She has a dogs nose and a canary's hearing.

Very few get into the SHOT Show for free. If you're a big buyer from someone like Sports South or Kaltrone-Pettibone, they might pay for your way in at will-call. Most of us have to register and pay our own way. If you get the chance, you should go. I haven't been since '05. Kids and their subsequent reduction in budget and free time kinda put a damper on the wife and I. We might go this year, depending on a babysitter. I've 'bout got my mother talked into it... . Oo. I can't afford to buy big like a lot of guys. I mostly do it as a side job for extra income. My partner and I split, and he had the FFL, so that hurts a lot of what I can do for parts. I'm considering getting mine, myself, mostly just for actions, AR, and 1911 lowers. Just what I need is more paperwork... ... . #@$%!

You need to convice the wife to go just once... . she might get hooked on the destruction!!! If nothing else, she'll see how much you enjoy it, and maybe let you go!! Or bury you there!!
