How about some results!

Alright you've got my attention! Let's hear about the results. Anybody have a report they can give on KWIKKURT's housings?

I need to do something. I have Piers turbo setting in my garage, however I afraid that with 450+ HP I might be out of the efficiency of it. I already have the HX40 16cm housing, but the turbo lag is too much (1700 rpms). I need this HX40 to spool up around 1400 rpms.

Kwikkurt, can your housings get me to a 1400 rpm spool-up and reasonable EGT's? (EGT's similar to the 16cm?)

Kwikkurt,
You also have my attention on this turbo set up. If possible, can you e-mail me the price for the turbo. If what devil dog said is true about the turbo than this is the turbo for me. I'm sure it would be for a lot of people heh heh. :D

1400 spoolup

BigBob, The Kwikspool with the 12cm2 spools up much like a stock hx35. (some say "Kwiker")I have not tested the Kwikspool in every combination but I am very pleased with the results. I will be mounting the latest model of my Kwikspool on my truck tomorrow.

I recently added several additional Heat and pressure probes (with test meters that record max and min readings as well as differential readings) into my truck so I can give more reliable information. I can now monitor Egt temps three places, Intake Charge air in two places and the drive pressure.

As many of you know it is difficult to watch and record several different gauges, Speedo, Rpm readings and hold on to a Bombed CTD powered Ram keeping it from eating every car in its path all at the same time! :D

I have run with a stock hx35 set to 40 psi for the last 2,500 miles to establish some base line #s. I hope to have numbers comparing that to a Kwikspool 12cm2 by fri or sat.

I know from past R&D that my EGT gauge climbs much slower and my max EGT's are as much as 200 deg cooler with the KSpool hx40. Over all the truck breathes much better. It will suck the Aircleaner vacuum gauge down to 35 with a clean K&N filter.

My goal with most of my R&D is lowering EGT's so we can use 400 to 450 hp while towing heavy trailers. So far I am very happy with the results.

For those interested I am selling the housings seperate for current hx40 owners and the complete KS Turbo setup for upgrading from a stock hx35. It will bolt right up with no changes to the exhaust and / or your existing exhaust brake.

I am also sharing a booth with "FASTCOOLERS". So I will be there most of the DayTime.

I will have a new (Censored ) 65psi "B1 BOMBER" Turbo with me as well as some of my KwikSpools and some Exhaust Stacks just in case you need some goodies :D;)

Hey Kurt, do you have a larger compressor housing for an hx35? Or can that even be done?

GIZMO,

I have 12 cm2 and 14cm2 Kwikspool housings for the HX40's. There are 14cm2 and 16 cm2 housing available for the Hx35. You might try Piers, Diesel Dynamics I think they can get you one. If you have no Luck call me I have a customer or two that will be trading them in as they install a KwikSpool Hx40.

CUMMINSHOLIC,

I have just what you need to help with your treatment! ;) And it doesn't take 12 steps!! :D I will Email you some info. Then just ask any questions you may have. Thx Kurt

KwickKurts Kwickspool housing

Kurt, got your 14cm hsing. installed on my HX40 tonight. I think its going to work great! Here's what I came up with on pre- and post install. This is HX35 & Banks 14cm hsing. on pre.

PE Comp set on #3-65mph to 100mph= 1300*(this is pedal to the metal on all runs)

" Comp set on #4-65mph to 92mph=1300*

" Comp set on #5-65mph to 85mph=1300*

After install, HX40 & Kwickspool 14cm hsing.

PE Comp set on #3-65 to w/0(115mph)=1200*

" Comp set on #4-65 to 110=1300*

" Comp set on #5-65 to 100=1300*

I'm real happy with what I see. Am anxious to see how it works while pulling. The egt's have dropped a good 200*. I couldn't use #4 at all, had to feather the pedal in #3.

Thanks a bunch!! will keep ya posted when I get loaded. (the trk. not me). LOL

Great to hear... How's the Hx40 lag? we can always change to a KS 12cm2... ... I have never had a Lag complaint from a 12cm2 Auto or Stick!

Kurt

Kurt, what difference would I see bet. the 12 & 14? I'm going to try to get a trip down your way and let you drive it. On the boost, I backed that screw out of the elbow about 2 turns, and got 39# in #5 wot. Now thats going a lot higher with a load, and hard pull, should I back it out more to lower the boost?

Larry

Yogi,

#39# should be fine. You could turn it down to 36 psi and see if it effects your Egt's much. The Hx40's are okay in my opinion up to 40 psi if you aren't rough on the throttle. They will easily produce 50 to 55 psi But are not sturdy enough to take it for long. If you were racing your truck and ET's or max HP is the most important factor turn it up. Just keep in mind it overstresses the Turbine wheel fins and the shaft. L8tr Kurt

Hey Kwik Do you live in Phx, because I could of sworn I seen you on interstate I-10, I was going west on I-10 and you were travleing east.

How many bones did it cost you to put the stacks on, I am very interested adding them to my ride.

AZGEAR, Was I towing my Fifth wheel? And was I blowing smoke or just passing everyone on the road? I lived in Phx for ten years and then for the seven years I lived in Ol' Mexico I was back in phx 2 days every week getting parts. Since I moved back to the U. S. A. (Silver City NM) I am still traveling to Phx since that is where I get most of my Turbo Machine work done. You may have seen me when I was going to or coming from the Tulare Showdown. I stopped in Phx each way to do more Turbo R&D and ship out some Housings. So I am there often -- Email me your # For information as I sell the stack parts and kits -- And we should get more local events going.

Yogi, I missed this question earlier. . We Can try my other housing it will spool earlier than the KS 14cm2 but will probably raise the egt's back up by 50 to 75... . I am still collecting Data from the KS Turbos that are out on varies trucks. Kurt
