I'm looking to get a new set of tires.

I have a 1990 D-350 and it has 4. 10 gears.

I'd like to get the biggest diameter tire on the stock rim in attempt to lower my RPM's a little.

What's the tallest tire that will fit?

Very seldom I have any weight in the box, but I'm a little worried with tire clearance on the rear.

TIA

Eric

I don't know about the duals but Michilen and several others have really narrow 9. 5X16's that are 36" tall and will fit on a 16X6 rim. The bad part is they are in a really agressive pattern that will make alot of noise.

I have looked at many options because I too have 4. 10's. Currenly I am running 265/75/16's and needing to upgrade to a taller tire. I have looked at the 255/85/16's in both Toyo and BFG, I even looked at having some wheels made and going to a 37/12. 50/17 tire (sticker shock). Either way it isn't cheep as the BFG's are about 140 a tire and Toyo are about 165 each. When you can get the same tire in 235/85/16 for alot less...

I have been wondering if anyone is running 285/75/16's on a 16/6 wheel and what do they think ???? as there is a greater selection of tires in this range .....

The narrowest rim recomended for a 285-75/16 is 7. 5". 7. 5's are what I have and I'll probably be switching to the 285's soon.

I am running the Michelin 265 LTX and love them.

They are quiet and smooth running. Get great wear.

I change the pressure a lot depending on my load. They are on my stock wheels.

I know this is hard to believe but what sold me was a fellow at work who was bragging about them. He had a set on a little lightweight shortbed Chevy and all the paper work. He had 70K miles on them and they were down to the wear bars.

I said I would like to buy them and give them a try. He gave his old 70k tires and I got another 15k on them:--)

The don't have the heavy carrying capacity and max tire pressure is only 50 but I have had my camper on while towing a trailer and they never got hot or gave me any trouble.

I figure these might outlast the truck.
