Ok guys, I've always been pretty gentle with my truck, rarely have I done anything one would consider "abusive". With that said, If I wanted to really bake the tires once, how would I do it? Where would I set the TST (see sid) and at what rpm would you start dumping the clutch?

OTOH, if you wanted to launch really hard, like in a drag race situation, how would you go about that?

Don't do it!

5/2 on the TST early program will make the highest hp at the highest rpm, on a stock 03.

If you wrench up the tq, 5/3, 5/4, you may have a better chance of slipping your tires, clutch or... .

As you advance the tq setting on the TST, you "rob" the ability of the stock CP3 to make up the difference later in the rpm band.

But you want to spin your tires... . 4/3, 4/4.

Thanks, thats really good info ~ I was wondering what the TST did at different RPM ranges with an otherwise stock setup. Shouldn't my SBE ConOfe clutch be able to take anything this setup can throw at it?

Sounds like a stage 1 CP3 is in order if mine ever fails. .

I agree, spinning the tires only shows a lack of traction, not a show of power. I can spin the tires on my 115hp Jetta if I want to, but it proves nothing.

That's not to say that some smokeshows are just fun, but really all it does is waste $$.

Manuals are just really hard to launch hard, and you have to shift so fast it's hard to get full power until 4th or 5th gear. But IF you really want to I would rev it up to about 1500 and launch in 3rd with a smooth, rapid clutch release, hard as hell on the clutch but the only way to get going quick.
