need some tires and I am looking at 265x75x16... . or ..... 285x75x16..... truck has some brand new crap car lot tires of 285x75x16 on it now.

I always liked the Steeltex A/T, E rating, Firestone sold but there no longer around,

my options are some Bridgestone ,"Tevo" A/T tires, he highly recommends them, sells a bunch was the claim, online reviews look good... ?????... . and another Firestone tire that replaced the steeltex... in only 265x75x16.

any reason not to run the Bridgstones??? as a kid I never liked them they were hard as rocks.

link to review. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo

I had a set of of the Firestone SteelTexs in the 265/75/16 and replaced them with the new version of the Firestone (Transforce?) in the same size/load rating (E) and they have worn very well so far. I don't do a lot of heavy towing or hauling, but they have performed well when loaded. I currently have about 23k on them and can see getting to 50k with them no problem.

I too considered the Bridgestone A/T Evo, but couldn't justify the big jump in price to make that happen. At the time I think the price jump was close to $50 a tire. I have run them on other trucks (half ton) and they were an excellent tire in that application, so I would think they would be an excellent choice here as well, I just couldn't do the $$$$. I bought my Firestones locally and the total with all the mounting, balancing, stems, disposal fee's and an an alignment was just under $700. I think the Bridgestones were close to $900 (I think... . ).

going to study tham from work today on a break some more, I think your right on the Firestone being called a Transforce?, for the life of me I could not recall what he said after I got home, either choice of tires is some bucks for sure, my last set of steeletex was 550 out the door,

man I really loved them steeltex tires, we get lots of rain and crap roads and them suckers gripped like a cheeta made driving in the heavy traffic a little less stressful and they did just as good on snow.

Love them

I don't know how many miles I have on them but they are the best tires I have owned (for 4 wheel drive). Traction is great and they're holding up just fine.

Chris do you have a side and back shot of your truck with the Firestones??

anyone have pictures of 285... &... 265 Tires on there trucks?? I have a 2" leveling kit on the front otherwise stock...

I dig full wheelwells but these particular 285's almost seem a touch to big and the driver front tire hangs past the wheel lip by a 1'' so I know its gonna sling crap down the truck, does your 285's hang out on your trucks?, we run in the rain allot so if your tires hangout they make serious rooster tails. to be honest I am past lifted big tire trucks at this point in my life, been there done that, . . does a 265 look goofy on a leveled truck, like waay small looking??

I sold my wheels and tires off the truck tonight so I need new rubber this coming weekend.

I think you meant to say Revo not Tevo. I have the Revo AT 265R\16's and like them a lot. Their a better riding tire than the BFG AT's. You can also get the Revo's in a load range E. Your signature is blank on your personnel info. If you live near a Discount Tire they can also get you these tires.

I got Discount Tire to match a 25% coupon from Firestone.

I have the Bridgestone Dueler A/T's in a 285-16 on the 96 and couldn't be happier but these only come in a D range. They rub a little with 0" offset rims and a stock ride height. The 07. 5 will get a set of REVO A/T's this week, 265-70R-17 E range,They are pretty pricey though. I am looking forward to getting the POS Michelins off this truck, the side walls have all cracked out, only 2 years old.

Thnx Chris, I like how they fit, now I need to decide between the Stones, and the Revos. probably do the Stones, man tires sure have jumped again in price out here. :{d

Chris about how tall are the tires sitting in the driveway from the driveway to the top of the tread???

the 285's measured about 31. 5"

thnx, B.

I have the Bridgestone Dueller REVO tires (265/70-17E) on my truck.

They are great tires. VERY quiet on the highway (no tire noise at all) and they have an aggressive tread design that works in dry, snow and rain. The tread blocks are way deeper than the factory BFG Rugged Trails.

My Rugged Trails picked up rocks and pebbles constantly and it drove me crazy trying to remove them. The REVOs don't do this.

The only negative I noticed was that it seemed like it took more power to run the REVOs vs. the BFGs, but I was comparing brand new tires to used tires. Haven't noticed any MPG difference, just my observation with the power needed at highway speeds.

Firestone guys were great, they only put weights (very minimal) on the backside of the rims at my request and I have not had any vibration issues.

I paid $778 for all 4 of them, mounted and balanced which was a smoking deal...

I have a pic in my photo gallery.

In hindsight, I probably would/should have gotten the 285/70-17E tires to fill up my wheel wells nicer and also to improve my rear end ratio, but at the time I didn't have the Smarty (to be able to easily adjust the tire dia) and I didn't want to take it to the dealer...

Hope this helps.

I went with the Firestone Transforce A/T, in 265x75x16, E, they make these in blackwall only and it makes them affordable in my book for what your buying, I got out of there for $586. . only drove it a few miles to home but the truck felt real nice on the road and they look good on it.

Peace, B.

Good deal..... and good luck. Keep an eye on inflation pressures and rotate them for long life.

I run them at 65 unloaded, yea I rotate at least 3 times year to keep the fronts from rolling the edge, took them on a nice 40 mi ride this a/m across town, hit the highway, grooved streets, etc the works even had a 25mph panic stop... I now know the ABS works the new brake pads tested and the tires... fricken lettuce head Volvo drivers. nice tires there just like the old steeltex's.

peace, B.

I run the transforce tires and have had very good service out of them. They have out lasted my goodyear over 30. 000 miles. Then goodyears are not so good of a tire.

I have the REVO's..... they are expensive tires but they wear well on my truck and : the Revo's are hands down the best wet weather tire I have had on my truck. The tire size on my truck are the 285-75 16.

I just bought a set of these on Tuesday... mainly based on the general liking for them on TDR.

In case it hasn't been discussed, they no longer make the "Revo", it has been replaced by the "Revo2". The difference I noticed (they had an older "revo" sitting in the showroom) is that they tightened the tread up significantly... the revo2 looks more like a coarse all-season than the all-terrain revo. I was actually hesitant in buying the revo because it looked too coarse for my use (highway, snow)... but I really liked the looks of the revo2.

I installed my REVOs earlier this year and done a bunch of towing and driving with them. So far I really enjoy this tire. They are quiet and smooth, I run them at 70psi, I figure I have about 5K on them so far, Might rotate them before the end of next month. Just a little tread sqirm, but for towing they are very stabile. Wet weather and sand they preform very well. I did not up-size, just stayed with stock size for now, I really can't afford any more bed height at this time.

I must be the only person not completely happy with my 265/75/r16 Revos. I've got about 20k miles on them so far.

They do have much better wet, snow, and mud traction than the Michellin LTX M/S that came on my 2500 QC auto.

But... . I find the tread/sidewall squirm to be nearly unacceptable. They are the E load range type, and I'm running about 80psi in them. Seriously, as I was driving out of the tire store lot, I thought something was broken on the truck. The difference in tire feel was HUGE. It went from being near-sporty car tight to old-school Cadillac mushy/sway.

Also, during towing: I pull my ~1800 lb car hauler with a 3000 lb car on it, and if I'm on concrete interstate pavement that has that uneven waivering... . the up-and-down shimmy is nearly unacceptable. It's nearly gut-shaking to the point of nausea. Again, this did not happen with the LTX M/S-es.
