I tried just turning the truck on without letting the lift pump run, it made no difference. The engine still turned over several times before starting. There is probably a combination to make the truck start quicker, I will just have to find it. If not at least the truck is usable now.

I checked for codes and found P1693 (generic fault indicating a fault in the bus or PCM/ECM interface). When I tried to erase the error, the scan tool showed "command sent code remains". To ad the background on this, while I was deciding what to do, I removed the ECM connector from the ECM to look for the correct wire to tap into. Then replaced the connector after deciding to use a keyed circuit. Could I have caused this code by damaging something during the removal and reconnection?

Thanks John for all of the help with this problem. Without your assistance I doubt if I would have been able to solve this problem by myself. I greatly appreciate the assistance.

While that DTC is nothing to worry about by itself, you might try erasing it several times, both with and without the engine running. Sometimes aftermarket code readers seem to have difficulty clearing stubborn DTC's. I'm not certain why that is.

Very doubtful.

You're most welcome.

John, thanks again. I will try to remove the code several more times to see what happens. As long as it is not going to be an issue, I will keep checking it now and then to see what the computer on the truck does with it.
