I've been looking for that thing off and on for a while now so I can adjust my valves. Where is it? I thought it was on the back of the gear cover, but I don't see it. Do I have to work by "feel"?

Tim,

The short answer is: Yep!

The long answer is: Reach in the gap between the bottom of the injector pump and the top of the vacuum/power steering pump. You should find what feels like a plastic knob. That's it! It's probably stiff and stuck. I had to pull mine out (NOT EASY!) and clean it up so that it was movable with finger pressure. Still not easy! After I finally got the thing on TDC on #1, I made a pointer out of a piece of aluminum that I mounted so that it was pointing to the crank pully. Then I drew a line with a magic marker where the pointer was pointing. Now I don't have to mess with that crazy timing pin!

Find it, Squirt it with WD-40, massage it in, then mark the crank pulley with a Q-tip with yellow paint at the speed sensor.
