anybody have or know where to get the shift handle for a 96 5spd. i want to cut it up so i can move it over and back (im getting lazy and dont like reaching so far):cool:. quad 4x4 had one but it was a whole kit for around $200 I just need the handle and i dont really care what shape its in as long as it will stay attached to the transmission.

I used the one in my truck and put a Rigid tubing bender on it and bent it until it was how I wanted it. I used it that way for a while and then made a custom one out of stainless bent the same way.

how did you make the conection with the transmission? I got a 96 and it has that press on pull off connection. Thats why im looking for a shifter so i can cut off the press on part and start fresh from there

Mine is the newer style shift tower so it is a threaded connection and I welded a nut to the lever and then use a lock nut under it.

Let me look around the garage. I used to have the old style top. I now have the newer threaded one.

I heated my shifter up with a torch and bent it to where I desired. Check ebay for a shifter , or a trany shop sometimes have a pile of them laying around and they will probaly just give you one.

ebay=negative

my luck= i m screwed if its the only shifter i have

Advanced adapters has the stub that converts it to the newer threaded style for $60. 00 +- looks like ill order it up from them something about knocking out a roll pin though.....

The roll pin is in the trans. You have to pull the top plate in order to do it.

I completely forgot about the shifter handle.

Sorry.
