Front Hitch Receiver...

My front mounted Hidden Hitch receiver mount's to the outside of the frame rail's. Installing DSS should not be a problem. Will know in about a week?

I have a WARN front hitch on mine and did not have a problem putting on the DSS. Only thing I had to move was my bypass filter set up. But that is not a big deal. ;)

I moved and had to take down the WEB site that I had up with the pictures that I took. I can email them to anyone that wants them. SNOKING

Just received mine in the mail yesterday. It came preopened. Must be a customs thing. I've already loaded the slidin for the weekend. I'd prefer to mount this thing with the truck unloaded. Very simple design.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.

It is so much better now. Couple of small problems though. The holes to the frame seemed off a little I could not get it centered as well as I would have liked. And to make it all better, I stripped out a hole trying to get a stabilizer bolt in the frame. UGGG. But all in all a MUCH improved driving situation.

I just installed my DSS. Great product. Installation was no problem and took about an hour. Went for a short drive and the steering was much better. Loaded up the horse trailer and headed to California. Didn't notice any problems while on the freeway, seemed to handle like new. I noticed a clanking noise when I went over speed bumps or a rough part of the road and I can feel it by the drivers side floor board. I thought it may be the shocks or something really loose. Check everything and everything is tight. I had my wife turn the steering wheel while I was under the truck and I can hear the clanking noise when the wheel is turned in each direction. May be the steering box. This is the second steering box that has been installed. Both by the dealer. It's hard to check to see if it is the shocks. I have RS 9221 which are longer because I installed a leveling kit. Has anyone had this problem or any suggestions?

Regarding that clank when you turn the wheels - check to make sure your steering shaft isn't loose where it enters the bottom end of the steering column. Also watch for movement at the upper end of your track-bar. Check those lower shock mount bolts by watching very closely for movement while someone else bounces the truck. Normal torque often won't be enough and you may need a very thin washer in there. If it's just on the bumps look for a cab mount that's cracked away from the cab floor.

I'm taking the plunge. I'm sending out a check to Darin in the morning. My steering is awful! I just ordered Luke's Link yesterday and now I need to buy a steering stablizer. Does anyone have some suggestions on which one to buy. I can hardley wait to install this stuff. I'm hoping my truck will drive and steer like new.

Thanks to all on the TDR for all the great feedback. Oo.

Installed my DSS this morning. Didn't feel much difference. The truck only has 30,000 miles on it. I feel that is a good thing. If nothing else it was cheap insurance. Quality of it was great. Glad I bought it for the truck. Jeff

I installed mine tonite. No one mentioned loosening the swaybar links. I was having a heck of time. A friend mentioned loosening them might help. This required no jack or jackstands. I had stripped one of the supplied bolts. After everything was in I reinstalled one of the stock bolts. A short test and the truck actually drives straight. Will know more tomorrow after the commute.

Does anyone know if this will fit a gasser? V-10 and V-8. I have some friends that would greatly benefit from this.

Regarding gassers,

The stiffeners will fit them also.

I'd like to say that we are now switching over to NTN bearings. :)

And, the four metric mounting bolts and washers are now all yellow zinc-dichromate plated. They are the same finish you have all probably seen used on grade 8 hardware, which the 10. 9 M's are roughly equivalent to. No stronger than the black ones; just better looking. The two 1/2" bolts remain the same as before.

I have updated the website with new photos including step by step photos with the installation instructions.

DSS

Got the DSS bar on, finally had a chance to make a 400 mi. trip. I think it is well worth the money!!! Got rid of the ever so slight wander. jps

Installed mine last night. Had to drive about 150 miles this morning and all I can say is WOW. Oo. It actually drives straight for more than 10 feet.

I have to make a 3000 mile trip next week so I will definitely know more after that, as well as get a second opinion from someone who has driven my truck before.
