On my bomed 95 it is losing oil out the drivers of the engine.

It seems it is coming out from the dipstick. .

It will loose a quart just driving 50 miles. but when Idle I cannot see a great loss from the dipstick tube. The fuel pump is just covered and driping with oil.

Even checking at a high RPM with the hood up I cannot see a area where could loose such a large amount.

I changed the coolant and it looks OK (no oil present) also it is not burning / smoking excessive unless a quick push of the throdle.

Help... ... ... ... .

My guess is the gasket between your fuel pump and engine is leaking. This will let a lot of oil get away. At idle it probably isn't slinging that much up there but at higher RPM the crank and/or camshaft is shooting more up there which leaks out.

If the crankcase vent were to get plugged the blowby could force oil out of the dipstick tube. It's worth checking.

Where is the crankcase vent on a '95?

I assume take it off, flush some gas thru it and blow it out with forced air...

I think I should check mine too... thanks, Jeff

I pulled it off and cleaned out. along with a oil change, coolant & hoses.

As a note this truck was in storage for about 2 years and neglected :(

I was not losing a quart per 50 miles but replacing the dipstick cured mine. Seal was gone on the stick cost about $26 from Cummins

I replaced it a few times in the past and it is due again for sure.

However with the excessive loss I cannot see it being the problem.

The truck has 218K miles on it and if it is the gasket on the pump leaking, how hard is it to replace.

A good afternoon to do.

Long story short... ... Also a 95

!)In the middle of road trip, truck blew out a huge amount of oil from dipstick tube... lost oil pressure  Whole under carriage soaked. .

2)I tested blowby... Cummins tested blowby/Report it way over spec... Engine is worn/dusted... They say I need a rebuild. . I say bull$hit... Oil analysis has shown very little wear in the last 65k miles. Truck was arround 210 k miles... pretty close to where you are.

3)After a lot of head scatching and talking with ace mechanics(Rammin On for one)I decided to change the head gasket since it was leaking coolant near the T-stat anyway... What have I got to loose right.

4) Problem gone.

Hope you can figure yours out.....
