Has anyone had to fix thier lumbar support in thier driver seat, mine broke and haven't found anything on TDR yet on a fix for it.

Mine has been replaced once under warranty, the knob sheared off. It was a quick fix so it can't be much to it, I think they just pulled the old knob out and inserted a new one. bg

Mine broke while under warranty but i hate dealers and the $100 deductible is proble more than the part. I just need to figure out how to take it all apart when its not broken. I have access to a salvage yard that i can get the parts of damaged seats but don't want to damage the stuff trying to get it off

The service manual doesn't show anything about the lumbar support itself. If your problem isn't resolved by repair/replacement of the knob, perhaps the pictures in the other referenced site could give you enough info to figure out a fix. My uncle always said "if it can be built, it can be repaired". Not always reasonably however.

sweet thank you, I think I can get it from here. I just didn't want to start yanking on things that weren't meant to be yanked on.

MA2LA, I see that you have an 06, if you have any warrenty left, take it over to Safford Dodge, they did mine in about an hour. They replace the entire lumbar support from one side of the seat to the knob. They had the parts in stock when mine went. The old fix use to be replace the entire seat back.

do you have any part numbers listed on the invoice. mine broke about a month ago and the dealer said the only fix was to replace the entire seat back. I would love to prove them wrong.

I made a temporary fix when mine broke. Very cheap plastic parts to begin with. I took the knob off and then used "hooks" to pull the strap outward towards the side of the seat and then bent them over the side of the hole where the knob once was. You have to pull the knob and the plastic threaded part it was connected to off the seat. Once you do that, look into the hole where the knob was and you can see a metal cross-pin that the knob used to activate. I used som large cotter pins as hooks after cutting off one side leaving enough bend to act as a hook. You take the hook and "hook" the cross-pin and then pull out (this makes the lumbar support tighter) and then you bend the cotter pin over the edge of the plastic tube to secure it. I did this 3 or 4 times and it has been holding fine. I did not want to pay for a new seat back and I happen to like the lumbar support tight. Hope this helps.

Sweeda - funny thing is that the invoice did not have any part numbers on it. but the old parts were on the floor behind the seat.
