MAP Range for Turbos--> New 54CM Compressor Wheel is ON (NON I/C)
I have heard that on Non i/c trucks the stock turbo has a pinwheel of 50cm and a MAP effiency rang topping out at around 26 psi?
Well Now that I have swapped on a 54CM Compressor wheel on there and it sounds like a Jet on takeoff, still non I/C what is the MAP efficiency for a turbo like this? I can't get above 1000 degrees EGT anymore... and this is uphill in 5th gear WOT headed to 100MPH... At Higher Rpms I can hit 27 but it creeps up there. Around town the most I can see from a blast is 20-22 psi. I don't see any smoke, but at night I get a slight haze during turbo lag, but my starwheel is gone. Man this turbo is real loud I can't imagine putting a 60 on there. Prolly just stage 3, so I don't have to swap backing plates.
Cruise egt at 80MPh is down to 550deg and 4psi. This is due to my higher gearing of course, but with the 50Cm egt was 625 or so at 80 Mph. 75mph egt is a little lower as is boost. I am falling in love all over again with these 3. 07's I hope they last.
