New FASS for sale in classified ads

Hey guys-

I've been looking at exhausts- I want a stainless system which leaves me between magnaflow and MBRP. Both 409 systems but the MBRP is a true 4 inch. I like the looks better of the MBRP and the muffler it has. However it only has a 5 year warranty and it is 409 stainless. Any problems with the thing rusting like the banks? It is worth spending the extra money on the 304 stainless (like 350$$$)... Any recommendations?

How much louder is it than stock? I want loud!

Erik

Hog looks like a nice system-

However, it is over 800 bucks. Too rich for my blood. The MBRP is only 450 shipped... . I'm looking to spend like 500 or less. .

WOW!! where are you looking? I bought mine directly from them for around $600 and that's with shipping. anyway, i'm happy with it. maybe the prices went up? Oo.

Raw metal prices are increasing and all the steel mills that produce stainless steel have imposed raw material surcharges for nickel (a primary component of 304 stainless steel) that vary monthly. Currently, the nickel surcharge is $. 60 per pound in addition to the steel price of around $1. 00 per pound.

Anyway, I have the MBRP 4" 409 S/S system on my truck. Bought it through DPP (they are an advertiser on here on the TDR) while at Muncie this year. It is an excellent system that is easy to install and sounds really good. I have been very pleased with it.

As far as the 409 vs. 304 material, unless you live in a severe climate area with lots of snow and lots of road salt, the 409 will do just fine.

Hey jay-

Ya i am in Southern California so no bad climate here. I have just stock exhaust cut right after the cat, so no muffler. How loud is this system? I want something louder than I have right now

thanks

I installed a MBRP xp 409 exhaust on my 95 last week. As other post have said, getting the old system off was the hardest part. The pipe that goes between the turbo down pipe, and the muffler needed to be trimed to the proper length on my truck, did it with a hack saw, took 30 min. to cut. The system is not loud, indeed, it's just a little nosier then stock. That supprised me, looking at that little straight through MBRP muffler, compaired to the big stock muffler! I even rolled down the pass window to hear it. A little turbo noise at idle, and just a little louder under load, and it sounds better then stock. It looks much better then stock too, especially with the big 5" tip.

I found some pretty good rust on my stock pipe where it comes out of the muffler, could see I would need some new pipes, so got the after market system, the stock pipes from the Dodge dealer probably would have cost more then the MBRP pipes!

I tried to post some photos on the above post, they did not come up, witch was fortunate, cause they were the wrong ones. See if this works... ...

EBottema,

I installed my MBRP exhaust this summer. I was concerned about the rear wheels spraying during the up & coming winter. I bought a set on Cummins/Dodge Rams head mud flaps to stop this. I mounted a stainless bar from the frame to the rear of the fender opening. I hung the wide flap on the bar. I cut out for the spring movement. Thus far its worked flawlessly. Just an idea.

Enjoy your new sounds.

i have the 304, the reason i went with it was the winters here. The road dep. get carried away putting salt on the roads. If i am going to buy an exhaust it better last. talk to the guys at DPP and they will definetly help you out with what suits you best. There is a link to thm on this website.
