Shay,
For the air in, you can either do an AFE intake, a Scotty Systems intake, an airaid intake or a DRC intake. The first two are the most common. I'm sure there are others that I might have missed. But by and large, the AFE or the Scotty are the most common.
After that and BEFORE you do any other modifications, GAUGES are a must.
For my money, since you don't want anything radical, I'd go with the Edge Juice and Attitude Monitor. That gives you about 100 ponies and your gauges. It's in the neighboorhood of $750. It does Fuel pressure, timing and duration. Smooth reliable power.
The last meeting out at Meachams, you probably remember the other white 3rd gen dually. The guy I sold my RAMifier (fuel pressure box) to. We stacked it with his TST PowerMaxCR (Timing/duration). That was a VERY aggressive stack. Lots of power. Smokin fast dually. That stack would run about $1000.
Plan on $250 for air, then $250 for gauges, then $whatever (TS, TST, VanAaken, Edge EZ, etc... ) for power.
or $250 for air and $750 for the Juice/Attitude.
DLeno has been doing a good writeup on all the different power boxes. It has been a continuing article in the last 3 or 4 issues of the TDR Magazine.
For the January meeting at Underwood Tire, there'll be at least one vendor there. Might save your pennies. There might be some special show pricing on stuff.
I envy you man... . I wish I had my 3rd gen back and was on the "turn the key and drive train" rather than the "turn the wrench and pray train"
