Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

What time does Mid-Tenn Dyno in March start? I was thinking about putting my truck on the dyno in April at Beech Bend but I might try it at the Mid-Tenn event instead. I have never been to any of the events.

Welcome JAderhold!!! It's good to see ya on here, I think that you will be staisfied with it all.

Mark, you talked to D lately? He got him a nice shiny Lexus to drive around with diesel being so expensive...

Dyno should start around 8.

Top cover stayed on. The crap was caught between the endmost gear and the rear of the extension housing--where 5th and R are.

Anybody know where Charlie Ekstam went? Website won't load, machine on the phone line. No ad in the TDR? Need to hand project over--or return it.

Wade - Ekstam sold his company to Pure Flow Technologies in early 2005. He's no longer involved with the production and sales of the fuel preporators.

I'd keep the dang thing or sell it. ;) Or at least give it to somebody that could use it. But FWIW, the number to Pure Flow is (877) 463-4373.

They could probably tell you how to get in touch wth Charles if you really need to speak with him.

Kool, I knew we'd have somebody in the "know".

So--now I gotta figure out what to do with it. Maybe I should send it to that guy in Texas... :-laf

For those who don't know, here's a rehash:

Some time back there were claims of horsepower gains to be had by running the "Preporator"/"FASS" type fuel transfer pumps. The theory was that "entrained" air (invisible air bubbles) were removed from the fuel--and then your injection pump/injectors could operate mo better EQUALS more HP. I was skeptical and asked a time or two for DYNO charts on a 5. 9 or similar. The FASS guy got mad and ran away. Charlie Ekstam (Preporator/Airdog) said HERE, have one, dyno it--see what happens. So he sent out three (that I recall) to different TDR folks. Mine was for the 473hp 24v.

The plan was to mount/plumb the thing--but bypass it. Then to run on the dyno with stock LP. Switch systems. Drive around the "block" and put it back onto the dyno. Which I thought I could do.

Then I ran into intallation problems (lack of facilities being the biggest), then the dyno guys changed their pricing for dirty diesel trucks (pretty much said--don't come here). Then I lost interest in VP-44's. So I SUCKED and didn't get the job done. But every once in a while everybody sucks.

I was going to video the whole thing with sound analysis. Everybody agrees that they make the injection pump/engine sound different. I don't know if anyone ever showed a real HP gain.

IN the meanwhile, Charlie has cashed out of the bidness--so I spose the pump is mine all mine. Shoulda gave it away at the January meeting.

Maybe we can work out something for the March dyno--on somebody else's truck, I'm selling my 24v this summer. Or I can trade it for body work! :-laf

Well I bought a Posi-Lok cable actuator for my truck on Ebay tonight. When my truck went in for the heater core this week they also looked over my vaccum works. When they unplugged the line going to my transfer case my vents & cruise control worked again. Some of you may remember this is the same line I caught under the cylinder head when re-installing last year. Well I patched the line with 1/4" air brake hose and all was well again. Well the mechanic found my splice and removed and reinstalled it and 4WD still didn't work.

I'm just flat out plain tired of not having 4WD when I want or NEED it. So I got the posi-lok unit to replace the vaccum actuator for $175 on Ebay (retails $200) S&H and Ins. was $15. Not bad for piece of mind if you ask me. :D

Mark,

Peace of mind? Sounds to me like it should be "not bad for getting it into 4x4 when you want it to"..... :-laf

I hope that fixes your issues.

Wade,

Selling the 24v? You looking for another project, maybe a 12v?..... :-laf

Hello to the new members.

Yeah, kinda got the hots for a 4x4 flatbed 3500--P-PUMP, # of valves isn't as important to me as the Grand Master Pumper! :D

I've got a lot of work to do on the 24v before selling it. Putting the Front End back like it was, replacing windshield, probably de-tuning it--, although I will offer it for sale with the full package. (see truck profile). Has about 128k on it now. I got it with 47k. Real sweet ride, just don't care for a 2wd anymore.

Chris Rudd won't call me back. He said he'd give me paperwork on the stuff he'd done to the Red Sport and what he got from the other fellow, but alas he won't.

So I'm not finding out who exactly bufu'd the transmission. It was number "16222" NV4500 if you have a shop and want to see if you did it. :p He apparantly never changed or sampled the oil either. It's one of those aftermarket type oil plugs that requires a third part to release the oil. No part was supplied. I have to borrow Bubba's and buy one or replace the fancy plug.

NOW--no fault of Chris Rudd's-- but the Red Sport developed a tick this morning. Going to let it warm a little. Hope it's an injector or something topside.

So if you see Chris Rudd (615. 210. 8888), go ahead and ax him to give me a call. ;)

???

Wow. I had to head down to lebanon this past weekend (just got back a few hours ago). We sateyd at the best value inn at 231 /I40. Sat night before we even got out of the van my 2 year old was going "TRUCK! TRUCK! TRUCK!" There were 3 CTD's setting at the light for the freeway ramps behind us. I swear at evry red ligt at least one CTD stopped, most had open exhaust. What a beautiful welcome! Through sunday and today we must have seen several dozen CTD's of evry variety. I think I saw a couple of distant TDR decals, but nothing definitave, so I dont know if I saw any of yall or not.

but I sure was impressed that evry time I turned around I could hear a B-model singin to me. Made the trip in the van a little beter. (except I wont tell ya how many times i looked up to the a-pillar to watch the boost spool up at the bottom of a hill on the freeway, only to realize im not in the truck!)

Anyone know anything about Dixie Diesel in Columbia,TN, talked to them about a VE pump for my new 92, unfortunately the prior owner seems to have gotten all the life out of mine, as its wore the H$#L out, always nice to buy something then have to spend grand on without enjoying it, LOL, they priced me a pump at 994. 00 and said it would be 230 hp and up depending on what I wanted, more or less power, what do ya'll think?

IMO, Dixie Diesel is not a very reputable pump shop. The story is too long to go into here, but we sent a pump back to them 3 times off our old hauler before finally going somewhere else. Another local guy had loads of trouble out of them with a 6. 2 Chevy and no one in Hohenwald messes with them anymore.

Anyway, enough of the rant. That price seems pretty high to me. You can get a replacement from Industrial Injection for $750. They can also turn it up if you are so inclined. They'll probably charge you sales tax since you are buying in TN, too. (unless you've made a deal with them)

I called them as well as City Diesel in Knoxville a few months back about recalibrating my P7100 pump, and repairing a bent Gov. spring stud.

The guys at City Diesel were EXTREMELY helpful, curtious, & willing to answer any and every question to the best of their ability.

Dixie Diesel was the EXACT OPPOSITE in every way. They weren't very helpful or curtious at all. They talked down to me and basically all but called me stupid when I asked if they could recalibrate my pump with a custom fuel plate and delivery valves. Told me that there was no way they could recalibrate my pump with those pieces in there.

If you would like a 3rd option I would like to suggest a shop. Taylor Diesel in Nashville, TN on Elm Hill Pike (I believe?) is a certified Bosch shop. They rebuild all different types of pumps, turbo's, and injectors. Call down their (sorry no # handy) and ask for Aaron Horton. That's my fiance's cousin and he rebuilds the rotary pumps. Tell him Mark Harris told ya to call him. ;)

obert,

Glad you had a pleasant experience while in our neck of the woods! We had a member from CA visit a while back, and entered a fuel station just after a robbery!

Take care,

Andy

2000 Dodge Dakota real lights...

Just in case someone might want them, I was going through some of my old junk and found the stock lights off of my old 2000 Dodge Dakota (rear) lights. If someone wants them, let me know quick as the trash goes out tonight. They are in good shape, bought some aftermarket ones to replace them, they just screw on and the existing lights go into these. They are free, just let me know so I don't toss them and I will get them to you whenever we can meet up or have another meeting. They would probably fit a Durango also. Thanks in advance.
