Help me sell the wife on this hitch before bedliner idea

Re: OK...

Here is a chart I picked up that shows how much additional HP it takes on grades, or head winds to tow.

Check it out

If I had 4. 10's, I'd be towing 60 - 65 mph. But with the 3. 54's, it doesn't make enough power to keep me happy (in 6th gear) until about 67 mph. But I'll take slightly less than 11 mpg while running 67 - 70 with a GCW or 16,540 lb. I can't complain about that.

How many people are towing out west in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming or the Dakotas? I'm curious if the mileage would be lower in these areas due to the usual winds.

Tow in North Dakota, where the wind always blows during the day and not at night and the bugs come out as soon as it reaches 20 degrees no matter how windy it is. Fuel mileage is in signature.

Those numbers coincide with mine fairly well. I figure those of us towing in those states will average lower numbers than the rest of the country.

Going to May Madness- average speed 70mph- 11. 3MPG.

Returning- with more that 1000lbs added wieght (hauling ATS trannies and Jardine exhaust systems), average speed 65mph- got is upt to 12. 5. Both were calculated at the pump, the OH computer is just there to hold up the headliner IMO, the numbers it spits out are useless:rolleyes: .

I have, like others have stated noticed a significant difference in mileage based more on speed thanb anything else. Towing a large high profile fifth wheel means pushing that much more air that much harded. I have actually gotten 14mpg towinf 10K. This was also at 55mph on flat ground.

How you do or don't use that right foot is the next biggest factor.

But what good is spending all that mony on mods if you can't get loose every now and again:D ?
