It's time for my 30k service and I was wondering if anybody with long term use of 3309 instead of Mopar fluid could give me any advice.

I've been using the Mobil 3309 since around 102,978 miles. I've performed two drain & fills and one sump filter replacement since using the Mobil 3309. If your truck has the same "WARNING" sticker on the transmission as mine, you'll see it mentions the Mobil 3309 fluid.

I bought a case of Mobil 3309 off Amazon and it was $68.85 delivered to my door ($5.74/quart). It sure beats the ASRC fluid that I've paid upwards of $11.31/quart or more in the past.

I am curious do you have a pic of what the pan looked like? I will be using the "AMZ/OIL" Universal ATF and do a complete fluid exchange this summer. I should have around 27K on it by then.

Are you inquiring as to the pan design....or just the overall cleanliness of the pan after removal?

Looks like this, You have to raise the transmission to remove the pan.

Greg, do you agree why would anyone want to use anything other then 3309....That's what we put in any Aisin trans. I spoke to Aisin US ,They confirmed 3309 is the OE fluid.

I'll admit I ran the ASRC fluid while within the 100k mile powertrain warranty. After that, around 102k miles, I started running the 3309. My bank account is a much happier one since the switch, and my ol' AS69RC hasn't skipped a beat since using the 3309 as well!!! Your previous posts, in addition to the sticker on the AS69RC verifying the Mobil 3309, was a no-brainer for me to go with the Mobil 3309. :)

In other words,no problem mixing with the OEM fluid that's left after a drain at 30K? It's the same formula as OEM?

Thanks for the info Todd...

There's no doubt in my mind that Mobil 3309 IS in an ASRC container.....it's just the ASRC has that astronomically high markup. I'm almost at 152k miles and have ran Mobil 3309 since 102k miles. I can tell no changes (except in my wallet). :-laf

I was hoping that PML or someone would design a pan with a 30 degree pitch on the output side , Plenty of room so You would NOT have to raise the trans to remove the pan. The Bolts are next to impossible to remove without raising the Trans.

I've lowered my crossmember twice now. It's not that big of an issue (to me) to lower the crossmember for pan removal.

I'll post up a pic of my pan later, Cummins12V98.

I here Ya Greg. If you look closely at the picture you will see the truck is on a vehicle lift, I have swivel lift for the trans takes me maybe 5 minutes additional, but many will not have the skill or equipment that we a blessed to have, and many shops will charge additionally for it, I have No problem with $25-35 more but dealers are charging $100s more for Aisin trans service. You should drop the pan on the 1st service to remove the fuzz dust and filter. after that regular change intervals should do the trick for most anyone asking.

I'd "tossed" around the idea of maybe going to 40k mile drain & fills and 40k mile sump filter replacements, but I'll probably just stick with my 30k intervals. This ol' AS69RC hasn't skipped a beat. It may fall outta the frame rails the next trip, but it's been great so far.

Coming from a farm "raising" / background, I just do what I can. If I can't do it---I go to an independent shop. If that shop can't do it...I then go to a dealer.

Thankfully----I'm still able-bodied and I can do 100% of the maintenance on my truck, as far as fluid changes go. I've done'em all.

I was at a dealership buying an extra quart or two of ASRC after my 1st sump filter replacement, and inquired about the AS69RC service. They quoted me, IIRC, only .7 hours for the sump filter replacement. I knew that could not be right......I'm sure the 68RFE calls for more than that.
