Weak argument, Don M. Intelligent readers will understand what I wrote. My point is he is using something that is not API certified. I did not say he was using it in his engine. I understand they don't license it for transmissions and rear ends. So what? Uncertified anything is still uncertified. And Redline is definitely not an appoved lube for the NV4500 5 speed. They all come with labels and tags warning the user against other than Castrol Syntorq. And Glasmith is doing this because he supports what you've said in other posts.

Briar,

We have not established what kind of transmission he has yet.

You say its a 5 speed, I thought it was an auto.

We will soon find out. If the API does not license his oils he is using in the trans and axle where is he contradictory besides in bombing his engine?

Don~

HOLD IT!!!

How the hell can we put lubes in our trannys and rear ends that have NO STAMPS??? Or gold stars or pink clovers and green moons?

Oh the HORROR of it!!

Dons new crusade:

Lobbying for API cert on ATF and gear Lube!

Because,

"It is the right thing to do. "

Go for it Don, you the man!

Steve,

There you go again saying all the 125 posts or whatever were about the API thing. Some were over extended oil drains. Some were over oil analysis. Many were about leaks. Not every single post was about the API.

I am aware you have been running the LE oil and have shown higher wear rates than others. All I can say is take a look at your own videos and the front cover of the latest TDR. LE is not designed to be ragged to death at the dragstrip all the time. It is not for racing. If you are extended the drain intervals and racing the way you do I would think you would see extremely high wear metals in your analysis.

Changing your oil sooner would make a large contribution in engine wear metals showing up in your analysis.

I say ths not as a professional, but as a common sensicle approach to racing and oil changing. I had an easier time starting my engine as well with synthetic oils. It may seem to you I have a vendetta against Amsoil. That is simply not true.

Before you decide to censor me on Amsoil topics why dont you and others consider a forum for oils, trannies and general war?

This way the guys who are sensitive to oil topics can just not visit that part of the board. Once again, I submit that the toics are hot and many poeople come and post or at least view the threads. Wonder how many of the guys who complain are reading this thread now. "Oh Steve, its terrible, Don M is ranting and raving about oil again, please shut him up" "I know this because I just read another one of his posts" Can these guys that dont like to read them just decide not to read them? Why do they need protecting? If they hate the threads they can skip over them. They are not disguised. Its very clear as to what they are.

Consider making a forum for us trouble makers, oil guys, transmission guys, etc. before you begin the censoring and posting stuff like you suggest. Or better yet, let the guys who hate oil topics and Amsoil fighting just read anothet thread. I hate some forms of art and I just dont go look at it. I dont run around callin' for help when it comes to town. I just dont go look at it.

RifleSmith tried to have a good and decent debate about oil related topics and we all mucked it up again. It is kinda sad to have to fight over this all the time. I will take into consideration your comments.

So I suggest the users who dont like the in-fighting over oil can just decide not to view the threads. Its simple! Im not in favor of open brawling on oil stuff either. I dont like the name calling and I dont suggest we all do that. When Robin canned the last thread I was not surprised at all. It was way out of hand. Way out! I would not have objected to parts of that mess being deleted.

Don~

Gene,

I have way too many other crusades to do right now. Maybe something like an oil related licensing program for the salesmen. Giving them a bit of training in lubrication with a continuing education program to keep them current in their field.

This would solve more lubricating problems. Ethics would be part of the training as well. Whatcha think?

Oh we have this program now dont we. They are called tribologist, chemist and engineers.

I know were to go for oil related advice now.

Don~

Again what a post. I think we should listen to Steve! That was the best response I've heard and certainly the most accurate. Someone posted a request for high milagevehicles. Here go's

!. 1986 VW Jetta, 455,000mi, Never torn down, used syn. mobil 1 from about 50,000 to the day it died getting rear ended.

2. 1986 trooper 4cyl. 265,000mi from about 20,000 it had mobil 1 then at 200,000 went to amsoil . sold the car with 265,000 on it and it ran great no oil used before 5,000 mi. changes.

3. 98 dodge 24v, 110,000 mi so far, amsoil 15-40 since about 12,000mi. truck runs better now than when it was new, uses no oil I repeat no oil between changes of 7-8k. No leaks! none

So I guess everyone knows how i feel about syn. oil BIG DEAL! And thats my point BIG DEAL I dont care how Don feels or Gene I know what works for me and thats all that matters. Good luck to all of you, Dave:)
