I just received my new Dynomax muffler from Summit today. There is a small piece of metal (probably from the welds) that I can hear inside it if I tip it from end to end. I don't think it is a crisis, but I just don't want the thing to rattle like h*** after I get it installed.

Should I send it back and get another one, or not worry about it?

Thanks for the help once again fellas,
Ryan

There is something rattleing around inside it

I'm thinking it will always rattle with the truck running. That would drive me nuts. I think I would send it back myself.

Cooker,

If you don’t send it back, then you will think any rattle you ever hear is coming from the muffler…and you will be very ****** off…not at Summit or Dynomax, but at yourself for not sending the **** thing back in the first place.

Thanks for the help. It's going back. I just really didn't want to wait, but you convinced me it is the best thing to do.

Sounds like maybe a loose nut or washer or something from the install kit. Are all of the hardware pieces there? If not, try shaking it out. If not send it back for another one. You don't want that in your exhaust. It will drive you nuts, and be loud.
