Annual Snowfall here is supposed to be 13-15" Thats in the valley..... higher elevations get more. The Ski areas typically get a 120" base and some melt and some add up more than others..... Last winter was a dismal 9" for the valley, I think... ...
The snow here is like the rain in Ca. it comes and goes. It can snow 2" or 1/4" or 10" on a bad storm but mostly the roads are not bad. I can snow at night and clear the next day..... If you live in Salt Lake City or Salt Lake City unincorporated, the residential streets get plowed.
We use regular salt on the roads and on the bridges, we use a spray that resists Ice.
Some people here have 2 sets of tires, A winter tire with studs or just a better traction tire, and a Summer tire.....
The coldest I have ever seen it here is -11 deg. but it don't get below 0 deg more than a week or two.
We are on our 5th year of drought so the summer is having some water restrictions and on the other side, the winters are mild right now.
If you have a gas vehicle, Gas prices are like 1. 40- 1. 45 Sinclair stations are the best for that.
One thing that is good is we are a "High Desert" climate so it is very dry here at times. 80-90+ deg. here is real nice since the humidity is like 10-15%. Hence almost everyone here uses a "swamp Cooler". A box that has pads around it and water pumps up to it to a tank and air passes through the pad by a squirel cage fan to be cooled and then blown into the house. It is not central air but needs flow to go though the house like ceiling to basement with the basement windows open a crack to flow. This is much less Elec. to pay and gets some humidity in the house.
We have Central air and are getting rid of the Cooler. We use a small portable swamp cooler in the house to replace humidity.
The people here are nice except when they are on the road

Most schools and places have grass and look good. The roads here are getting upgraded a little at a time. We just had 15 miles of freeway replaced for the olympics that was here and now they are doing most of the other main roads around town.
When we get rainstorms in the fall, we get monsoon type Lightning storms and heavy rain. One time it was sunny morning, not a cloud... ... and by 3-4 pm, we had dark heavy clouds, rain, wind, then 2 hours later, GONE! The slogan in this town is if you don't like the weather, Wait a bit!! especially in spring and fall... .
Anyway, this started out as a snow forcast... ... I like it here, would not go back to CA for anything. Since I live near NV. I wouldn't live there either in any town.
