My Maintenance Schedule has stripped a gear...

Well it's not just mechanicals that strip gears. Finally after fighting with Tri West (VA outsourcing) they removed the worst of the Cataract's. In my case it is the right eye. Recovery stinks with the occasional sand and burning feeling. They give a clear patch to tape on at night so you do not rub the eye. I get pretty restless so I need a full head gear that bolts shut so I cannot rip it off at night. The left eye will probably be in 2 weeks. I have been after the VA and Tri West for the better part of 3 Months to get this done as we were planning on leaving Az. the first week of May to head for ND and the Daughter with the second Grandson due in July. Looks like we are stuck here for most of May. We already saw 102 and has cooled to the 90's. Just what I never wanted to see again.

Thanks again for all of the assistance. I'm probably going to try and tackle that system in June. I have a leaking steering rack to do on that car also. I have some vacation coming in June and that will be a good time to get some work done.

Isn't scheduling with the VA fun. I can remember what my father-in-law went through to have his prostate cancer surgery. Months and months of hurry up and wait.

Surprisingly the prostate cancer went very well. The Cataract's not so good but it is at least under way. So I understand Tri West is getting overwhelmed with the volume of outsourcing coming from the VA. But then you talk to the VA and they think Tri West is not capable.

Replacing the right front axle u-joint on the '07 this week. The only nice thing about this job is that after you do it every other year or so, things come apart pretty darn easy.

Don't forget to add a bunch of anti-seize so you can get it all over you the next time you take it apart!!

Lol. They have been apart so many times I'm going to need lock tight instead.

The good news is, I purchased lifetime warranty junk NAPA u-joints so I don't have to pay for it. The bad news is, they only last 30K and I have to do the work all over again.

Been there, done that!

Currently only have 17k miles on my 2016. Hopefully it will be a while before I have to do u joints again.

I’ll barely have 20k on it by the time warranty expires.

On the flip side i’ve replaced front bearings on my son’s windstar 2 times in 8 months.

Just to ammend my previous statement. I just looked in my records. I did this right front 70K ago. My left side has 30K on it. That's actually not too bad.

Another HVAC actuator stripped out out the 2010. That's the project of the week around here. The only problem is that now the wife will be driving the Ford to work again and it's extremely hard to get her to give it up once she takes it.
