Lowering my truck

Ron, mine stay up all the time too. I have pretty good vision, so with my round spots, I can see the front top of my RV and the sides of the truck. I use the factory spots aimed at the edge of the truck so I can see the RV better in turns. You can see the perspective pretty well on my pic. May not work for you, but its gang busters for me.

Cheers, Ron 2

you talking about truck or spots you added?

I was asking Wiredawg

Ron, is my quote above that you are asking me? Which part are you asking factory or added spots? In my post #133, that is my view of all my driver's side mirrors sitting normally.

Cheers, Ron

#152 I was quoting the whole post "thinking" the question would be easily answered.

Cummins12V98 said:
Mirrors are fine up or down. The PROBLEM is the spot with mirror up is oriented properly giving the widest view. Tip the spot vertical with mirror down it’s near useless IMHO.

Wiredawg said:
The spots are adjustable on my truck, so they can be properly oriented for any position or driver. Once I have them set they don't need any adjusting for up or down thou.

Wish we could push a button to talk sometimes! Ron said the above referring to "spots are adjustable on my truck" I was asking if he was talking about the ROUND ones he added or OE??? When I asked "you talking about truck or spots you added?"

Ron,

I didn't say this:

"The spots are adjustable on my truck, so they can be properly oriented for any position or driver. Once I have them set they don't need any adjusting for up or down thou." AH64ID said this and I believe he is referring to the factory spots on his truck. I never run with my mirrors down.

This should help clear up the question and the answer. Since the question is really directed at AH64ID, he may want to add more to the answer.

Cheers, Ron

One thing I DON’T miss from my 3500 DRW is the wide hips. The Cab & Chassis setup gives such a better field of view with a flatbed. My week has been great so far....picked up a restroom trailer in Howe, IN last Friday, stayed at home Saturday, left out Sunday, shut down in St Augustine, FL Sunday night, delivered to Hobe Sound, FL Monday, then picked up this 38+8 toy hauler from Shadow Trailers in Williston, FL Tuesday morning. I then shut down in Oak Grove, KY. I’m currently in Salina, KS tonight.

Toy hauler is going to Kiowa, CO...then I’m picking up another 40’ aluminum gooseneck cattle pot from Merritt Trailers in Henderson, CO.....only 65 miles or so away. It’s then going to Baxley, GA. Working on yet another haul out of south GA for a customer in TN after the Baxley drop. Attached is a cattle pot I hauled for the Baxley customer just before Christmas. I’ve done fairly well connecting the dots with lots of loaded miles this run.....so far.

Picture was taken last night in Oak Grove, KY (I’m currently in Salina, KS).

Look like a real-deal "bullshipper" there, Greg! No porch light on that one, though.

It’s on the other side....with a huge awning.

Ok, first tow with Arctic Fox, I’ll post more later on this but I cannot change the light tow to heavy tow on the electric brake settings. I’ve followed the manual, and holding right arrow in the trailer tow window and pushing up or down doesn’t change it as the manual says. What gives? BTW airbags work.
Ok, I finaly have a little time to myself after the trip. My impressions of the alternate hight option worked well to give me a 1/2" more clearance. It was weird when lowering the weight onto the truck, then the level system kicked in raising it. I ended up with 6+" under the 5ver, and the puck system was awesome. It was a solid connection without any movement. I did start to get a slight feel of a little back and forth motion, even the wife picked up on it. I figured the motion was attributed to the water weight moving from the fresh water tank to the grey and black tanks forward of the axles. It turned out to be from getting to a 1/4 tank of fuel (I realy miss the 54 Gallon tank on my old C&C), once I filled the tank it was as smooth as on the way down to Glamis. AND the power, WOW. I never got the the electric brake setting to change, I'll look into that on the next tow. I followed the instructions in the manual, holding the right arrow in, while pushing the up or down arrows changing the settings. I had no issue with the brakes, because I drive cautiously when near other vehicles or in city driving. I couldn't caculate the MPG because I had 50+ miles without the 5ver. But the lie "O" meter indicated 9-10 MPG. Well gotta feed the dogs, more later on this.

Sounds like a good time!

I know on my truck I have to change light/heavy thru the 8.4” screen and not the steering wheel. Gain also can’t be changed on the steering wheel.

The 18 and 19 owners manuals appear to read the same for adjustments.

Did you try adjusting the settings on you 12” screen?

No, I really didn't have time to try that. I did it per the manual, and it didn't work, so off I went with light electric brakes setting and adjusted gain to the highest setting of 10.

While the manual doesn't specifically state it that way I think those instructions are for the trucks with the standard instrument cluster, not the large screen cluster. Further into the manual it talks about adjusting thru the 8.4" or 12" screen.

The negative about the new 12" screen, is just what were talking about here. I still get lost trying to use that radio/info system. The manual is poor at best, and it took about 5 minutes to find the info I did. With the exhaust brake and aggressive shifting strategy on the Aisin, it made it worry free. It'll be awhile before I can pull it again, so I have plenty of time to study it. I didn't even think about it, until we were just about to get on the road. I was so used to the "Smart Brake" I had on the 07 C&C (Plug and Play) I didn't think about the settings on the new system. BTW, the Smart Brake controller was the best I electric brake controller I have used.

Exactly.....that’s why I suggested it back in post #128. Even my lowly 2018 RAM 4500 w/5.0 Radio and backup camera adjusts and selects trailer brake options through the SETTINGS feature of the head unit.

Not sure what that means other than when lowering the ride height in ALT it will give slightly more bed clearance at the back of the bed.

Bottom line the combo looks PERFECT to me.

@RVTRKN can you take a pic of your rear spring setup? I noticed the 19 DRW’s are different than 18 and wondering if the SRW also changed.
