My name is Don from Automotive Transmission Specialist Inc. We are in Denver Colorado. We will be letting the TDR know about our new products on the market. We have a triple clutch torque converter for the Dodge,Ford,Duramax this converter will give back the factory shifts that was used with no line pressure increase. This converter is in one of my trucks that put down 1003 foot pounds of torque at the Colorado Diesel Emissions at Castle Rock Colorado last Saturday. The TDR was on site to see this torque converter work. This will give back 100% of the torque to the ground with less heat (not 89-93%) Also we make the stator inside with maximum efficiency. We will put this product up to the test on any truck with hi horsepower and torque how is that for standing behind the product. You can look at one of our trucks under Local & Regional Events its a driftwood 4wd short bed with ATS Diesel Performance on the doors & 35" tires. This truck has a triple disk converter not three clutch linings on one piston but a full 13-inch clutch pack with a stall stator in it with no mods done to the line pressure. It shifts factory and no auto trans truck beat it on the dynomomter that day. This product will give any truck the factory lockup back. This Torque Converter uses three-clutch plate’s and a billet lid. So the door is open to anyone that wants to check this out. This product also gives the engine braking on coast that fluid coupling couldn’t give with an exhaust brake. O" NO PRESSURE LOCK!!!!

It sounds almost too good to be true. It should be interesting to see what develops since TC's are always a very HOT topic...

Ummm, Bill, Brian, where are you? Let's see, I gotta pop some popcorn, grab a Diet Pepsi and pull the Laz-i-Boy up to the sidelines for this one. This oughta be GOOD!! :D

Rusty, quick, bring me back a diet Coke while you're in there!!!! It's too cold to go camping. Now I have something to this weekend.....

Seriously men, lets play nice this time.

Is there a website where we can look at this new converter?

Rusty,

Me too.

I'am glad i held off this long with my transmission upgrades. Who knows what the future holds. Maybe they will find someone in my part of the world that will do the installation instead of steer me away from there product because like one of the other companies said, the way I drive scares the hell out of them, all I do is tow a 20,000lb GCW of all vehicles and then when I unhook I like to burn my tires a little. I think thats what the sales pitch was when I bought my truck. :D ;)

Gitch,

He!!, I don't wanna miss a good fight - regardless of the subject matter! ;) :D

Now, where were those Fritos and nacho cheese dip?

About that Allison TCC. What did ya do different with it? It's all ready VERY Tight, and has no problem handling the HP of the DMax. (Torque is on the low side with DMax)

Maybe this is a stupid question,, BUT,, if I don't ask,, ya know,, it's stupid anyway. . here it goes. .

If the Torque converter is 100% How do you stop without stalling the motor,, or take off without chirping the tires?

I know with my 5-speed if I try to stop in gear with my clutch 100% engaged, I stall my motor, and if I try to take off with an immediate 100% I chirp tires or stall my motor.

BTW, What % of efficiency is a stock Dmax/Allison Torque Converter? I think Dodge is around ~75% (THINK)

Thanks for any answers.

The factory disengages the converter lock-up by shutting off the TCC solenoid, thats how the lock-up valve shuts off the oil to the converter clutch. As for the duramax if the engine has propane and a fuel chip it will generate more toque this will come up as a over-torque at the input shaft. This will set a code. We have repaired one just like this with one of our converters for Bully Dog so if you have the need give them a call. This problem has not brought up much due to the fact of a Duramax is not talked about on the TDR. Just a note on fluid coupling and lock-up we can make the fluid coupling to what ever sombody wants. The nice thing is when the torque converter clutch comes on you get 100% of the engines torque. The converter would kill the engine if it stayed on coming to a stop. So if you want 93% fluid coupling we have it but than here comes lock-up and you get the rest of what you deserve to get to the ground.

Don't mind me boys, I'm just here for the fireworks...

For what it's worth, (yea, I know, not much) it would

take more than a new TC to get me away from DTT.

Not being a transmission guru myself, I think I'll just sit back in the "nose-bleed" seats and see how this one comes out.

Where are all the "Yoda"s?

Cool. :)

Looks like there is a little competition in the field now.

I think it would be impossible to pass DTT in customer service though. (you're not doin' to bad :D )

Keep up the good work,, You are in a tough field.

Run with the big dogs ! Glad to see not everybody is staying on the porch :D

Hey Ron, when we started this work on the torque converters and transmissions it's been at the race track. Our thoughts were, tow the race cars to the track and play. So, our products were moved over from the pro-comp and major power transmission parts. This was our first life. Along the way our customers wanted us to play hard on the diesels, so we moved our racing experience over. The high horse power torque converters, is what we do. Our house, Company & doors are wide open to ALL to come see. Call any time... !! If we can be of help, thats our job and ambition at ATS/PTC...

Thank You for you positive post... . Your name is welcome at ATS. .

Thanks Don ATS/PTC :)
