New MBRP system: paint/etc to prevent rust? Do I need to use extension pipe?
I just recieved my new 5" MBRP exhaust system today for my truck. Got a few busy days coming up before I get some time to install it. Just looking over the system and wondering if anyone here has ever tried any type of paint or other coating to prevent rust on the system. The parts I'm concerned about are the welded on hanger on the rear piece and the welds on the muffler and the clamps and hangers seem to be steel as well. Is there any type of coating on these and the welds already? If anyone has tried painting them or something else what did you use and how did it work? Or am I just worrying too much and should I just install the exhaust as is?
Just wanting to make this exhaust last and long as possible. I live in Tennessee now and we don't see a ton of nasty weather and salt but I still go back up north where I grew up in Ohio a few times every winter and wanting to make sure I don't ruin the system. Thanks in advance for any help!
