I believe I have fixed the issues with the Charging System... Most of the previous owners electrical gremlins are gone at this point, so I mounted my last spare Voltage Regulator on the firewall a few days ago. I also added a separate dedicated ground wire between the VR and the Alternator just to be certain. I cleaned the main harness connector between the two, which was absolutely plugged with crap inside and out as well. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was part of the problem. I also removed and cleaned the Alternator ground connection at the block.
The Charging System has been rock solid now ever since. No cycling, no faltering, no pulsing lights... just rock steady. Fingers crossed, it will stay that way. I feel pretty confident this time around though. I'll give it another week or so. If it's still 100% trouble free at that time, then I'll replace the cheap over the counter VR with a known good quality unit.

I gave Montana two black eyes this morning.. LOL

I was working on another project that involved some Satin Black paint, so I figured why not. A quick masking with some painters tape, and voila!

I ordered a Quality VR to install in the truck this time around. I just have to do a little more housekeeping before I install it.

Howdy
Sorry for the slight delay in response here, I was in PA for the weekend.
Anywho... The Tach is a common machine tool style tach that can be found in abundance at places like Amazon, eRape, etc.. usually $12- $20 including shipping.

Thank you for the compliment on the truck too, I'm sure old Montana appreciates it.

I didn't bring the truck to the show, but in hind sight I probably should have. There weren't to many pre-91 era trucks showing there. I did see your truck on the field however, but no one was ever around when I'd swing by.
I didn't drive Montana down to the show because I still have a few items to check off on my To-Do list before I'll feel comfortable driving the truck to far from home base.

I gave Montana a bath today... a full wash & wax. It's the first bath it's had since I bought it... I've hit it with hose a couple of times to wash the salt off, but thats been about it up to now.

So now it has one coat of wax on it anyway, which is one more than it had when I got it.

I spent most of my time hanging out with old friends I haven't seen for a while. Mostly the 1st Gen Charger folks... I collected a few parts of my own while I was there too of course. After all, you can't go to Carlisle and come home empty handed.

Did a little more work on Montana this weekend... I now have Power Windows! I also cleaned up the gutters at the bottom inside of the doors while I had them open, and put down a good heavy coat of Rust Bullet as preventive medicine. I'm also going to be adding a little sound dampening material to the doors, so I'm not quite done yet. I put the door panels back on for the moment though so I could drive it to work and enjoy those new Power Windows!

It was just a cheap $55 kit from Amazon, but it was well rated, so I figured why not give it a try. It works great now, but we'll have to wait and see how well it holds up over the long haul.

Yesterday I changed out the old tired lamps in the dash with some new Blue LED style lamps. The old ones made it really hard to see... they worked, but that's about all you could say for them. I like the new blue lights because the blue makes the orange needles pop. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, it's the only shot I have at the moment.

I also got rid of the Big Gear Vendors Control Box too. The system is now defaulted to Manual control since I really don't need Auto with a Diesel... and I replaced the big Red & Green indicators with panel mounted Red & Green LED's in the dash, just to the right of the climate controls... so now all I have is the system activation switch on the floor (old dimmer switch), and the two LED's in the dash.

I had a little spare time this morning, so I finished up the work on the doors.
Power Window installation complete.
1/2" Sound Deadening Waterproof Insulation Mat has been installed.
Replaced the door panels old plastic snap in screw caps with good heavy duty threaded Brass/Chrome covers with Ram logo.
Again, a very noticeable improvement inside the cab, and when closing the doors. The 1/2" foam mat under the panels really helps. It helps with the A/C as well.

Picked up a new steering wheel for Montana the other day from the folks over at Forever Sharp. https://fssteeringwheels.com/ Nice quality and 1st rate Customer Service.
My wife likes it, she thinks I should buy another one just like it for the 67 Charger, but I already have a nice wheel for that application. I think this one looks good in an old 90 W250 Diesel ;)

Changed my mind... I had about 30 minutes to spare yesterday, so I decided to swap the Blue lights in the dash of the truck over to Green. I swapped the Tach over to Green as well.

More to follow as time and weather permit... Unfortunately my Truck has been in northern NH for the past few months, while I've been in CT.
