Hopefully upgraded link, will call and see what local dealers are doing.

It looks like in the recall procedure posted earlier that the updated link is more like the synergy unit although definitely not as strong. Seems to be a center tube with end links and an adjuster nut with safety clamp. That not to say they won't stopgap with the old style drag links thy have around and weld them. The image I'm referring to is on page 15, figure 13.

I'm not doing a damn thing till they decide to replace the WHOLE arm. Not weld mine so I have to grind welds later to center my steering wheel.

I'm of the same mind. I only have 3,500 miles on my 18 built in November 18, and I don't want someone I don't know or trust welding on my new rig. I was just noting that there was an image in the procedure that hinted at the design of the updated part as it shows the pitman arm end of what looks to be a completely different drag link. I will be checking mine today and dropping some blue locktite on the threads when I rotate my tires. Contemplating the synergy as I will be offroading my truck in the future.

Well looked at mine again today and the pitman arm side was less than snug. the outboard side was maybe at 30 ft lbs. Pulled it apart and cleaned the threads. coated with blue thread-locker and re-tightened both sides as tight as I could with a 18" adjustable against the tie rod and a 1 5/8" cheapo wrench. Painted on some witness marks and will keep an eye on it, but at 3,500 mi. I can't believe it was that lose. Just a word to the people with brand new trucks to at least check and tighten them.

Safety Defect/Non Compliance Description and Safety Risk

Some vehicles may have been built with an outboard steering linkage jam nut that could loosen allowing one end of the drag link to separate from the adjuster sleeve. A drag link separation can result in a loss of directional steering control, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

Repair Description

Inspect the torque values. If the torque values meet requirement, the nuts will be welded to the adjuster sleeve. If the torque values do not meet requirement, the drag link assembly will be replaced.
I went in for this recall and they aligned the front end and welded both nuts to the bar. My service manager told me not to worry about it because there will be another safety recall to replace the linkage because it can no longer be aligned.

I purchased an ‘18 over the weekend with a build date of 9/18. No recall through Mopar and NTHSA sites with my VIN#. It looks identical to 2014-2017 draglink adjuster.

Why are the ‘18 exempt from the recall when the adjuster sleeve/nuts looks the same, I missing something here?
I have a 2018, ot is on the recall

Mine is going in Apr 25 for this recall. Finally the problem is not the loose nut behind the wheel but the loose nut between the wheels . On mine the left side lock nut is loose but the right one is still tight so nothing has movements. Lets see what they do and will follow up to let you guys know.

When I was at the dealership the other day crawling around under a few 2018's I did notice they have tacked the nut to the sleeve on each end... Just a small tack nut to nut, Not nut to thread. Pretty sure my new rig has it already performed.. I'm picking mine up today and I'll post a pic of the drag link.

Took my truck in yesterday for fuel filter replacement, and they also performed the recall. They told me at this point they are not sure what to do in case of wheel alignment. I guess they will get more info on this later. At least for now I guess I don't need to worry about the steering going out.

Same at my local dealer. All '18's welded

the truck is in, the SM said because I tightened the loose drivers side nut they have to call FCA to get an opinion on how to proceed because now it is out of the official recall procedure . I guess I destroyed the evidence! I told them it was unsafe to drive , they said in the future have it towed. More to come:mad:

Just had my 2016 done .Its a bandaid fix for now. The left hand jam nut was loose so what they did was take the assembly apart check the threads they were okay. Put it back together did an alignment then tack welded the nuts spray painted it and then marked it in white. My only issue was getting future alignments done, I addressed this with the service manager and he thinks there is more to come probably some kind of clamp and get rid of the weld. Not a great fix but it works for now. Now to fix the loose nut behind the wheel.

truck is done, they supposedly loosened the nut, checked the threads, deemed them sat and torqued, then welded it. checked alignment but did not use my recommended specs. So its good to go....
