Up with a dually is fine but not SRW no no !!:-laf

Nick

I used to feel the same way. I always had my 3rd gen mirrors on my 98 down unless towing because the spot mirrors worked the same in both positions. Now on the 4th gen trucks with the mirrors down the curved portion of the spot is vertical and does not work very well but when the mirrors are up the spot is horizontal and work WELL.

"Antlers" always up!!!

A buddy and I have a long standing prank we play on each other. He's got a SRW and always runs with tow mirrors out, so when he's not around or paying attention I will kindly fold them in for him :D

After 3 or 4 times of that he began returning the favor and now folds mine out when I'm not paying attention.

OK after changing lanes on top of a car on my right hip, the mirrors went up into the towing position. Snoking

I think you will find yourself backing up looking out the back window instead of using your mirrors. You will find with your mirrors out over 9 feet and your truck bed is 6 feet your view angle will be funky. Mirrors have to be the same width as your vehicle to backup square. I think you will find yourself over correcting the whole time you backup not to mention sweeping the sidewalks:) I don't think you will like them out.

Well I can tell you the blind spot even with the little stick ons I added in heavy traffic just to not cut it when they are down. I am going to try some different stick ons, as I do not like them up when not towing. SNOKING

Got that ghost trailer hooked up!!!

I agree the 4th gen mirrors are POS compared to 2nd/3rd gen ones... but tow mirrors up just looks like a large donkey without a trailer.

I have to agree with John, these mirrors stick out too far when up and not towing. The blind spot is definitely an issue. Looks like we need to all be checking out spot mirrors to find what works best. Clearly what we have isn't cutting it.

With them folded down, I've almost driven over a couple of small cars when changing lanes or merging. I make sure I shoulder check EVERY time now! Still getting used to these damn things!

I have the mirrors on my 95 F250 up. When I test drove a 2015 2500 Laramie and when I went and test drove a 2015 Power wagon I had to put the mirrors up in the towing position. I guess it was because I always have my mirrors up not in the down position

There is an unwritten rule that if you run your mirrors out all the time, you must have a large (or two) stack coming out of the bed.....and truck nutz.

I'm surprised the 4 gen mirrors bother so many people. Sure, it took a bit of adjustment when new, but I am used to them now. I have even done a little test multiple times....when a car is approaching me from behind in the lane to my right, I've checked to see if I can see them the whole time....and I can. As soon as the car disappears from the large mirror, it shows up in the spot.

Put me in this boat, I haven't any issues with these mirrors. They work fine for me.

Same goes for Ca. I see it everywhere.

They they just take getting used to. Knowing how to adjust them to what you need to see and reading them right. There's know doubt that standing up is easier, but I'm always worried about clipping some other guys mirrors coming at me. When laying down, they still stick out far enough to have to worry about that.

I've owned 3rd GEN's w/tow mirrors from 2003 through 2013.......the tow mirror blind spot mirrors on my 2013 & 2014 are superior to the 3rd GEN's. If properly adjusted in the down position, I can see the front of a car with my peripheral vision and the back of the car in the blind spot.
