just took delivery of 01 2500 qc lb 4x4, everything perfect till I got in it at 4 am to continue home (motel) it was 22 degrees in the desert: and all I hat was a Tshirt good time to find out the heat dont work!! a/c works fine, blower works fine, air vent selector works (upper, lower, blend, etc),but no temp change, cold, but no heat, AT ALL. anyone heard of this happening, or is this a dealer fix? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Look for a shut off valve on one of the heater hoses, some owners shut the water flow off to the heater core in the summer to aid the AC...

Temperature showing on gage, are the heater hoses hot after warm up,Something plugged, there is an old s/b of a restrictor in the fitting coming out of the head at the rear right side, it can be removed ,could be stuck. Maybe something has slipped that connects the heat knob so its not opening the valve to allow the hot water to the core. Just a few thoughts of things to check.

i had a plugged heater core on my 99, i would suspect that is what it is. i would do the above mentioned checks first though.

Mine just started to blow only cold air the last couple times I used the truck. After running it 5-6 miles the heat kicked in. So for now, I left the heat dial on warm and it starts to heat as soo as truck gets warmed up. So I am thinking mine is a heater dial related issue.

oops what a dummy, I popped the hood, and there it was, the previous owner had bypassed the heater core, and I missed it when I looked it over when taking delivery, I just hope it was because of living its whole life in southern nevada (No need for heat,100 deg. is a balmy day,"but its a dry heat") otherwise, its to the dealer for a new core. I hooked it up, and ran it in the shop till it warmed up, blows warm, and no leaks or fogged windows, so who knows, I'll drive it today and see. thanks guys for your help and guidance, always appreciated. next job--- cracked dash!!! BOOO
