No neutral indicated, no 4x4 low

I went to back my 5er in and tried to put the truck (2006 mega) in 4wheel low. I put the trans in neutral but the little square light around the N didn't come on. I didn't think anything of it but then it wouldn't go into 4low. The indicator shows all other gears. Is there a probe or switch that works these things?

Yes, the range sensor tells what gear it is in. If you have a manual shift t-case it doesn't matter what the gear indicator says, the electric shift may have an interlock that will not allow it to switch into 4x4.

I just had the same thing happen backing my camper as well. It was the neutral safety switch on the trans. Replaced and all is well. Mine is a 06 mega
