Been chasing a no power/low power issue for a while finally got some time to check some stuff my walbro seems to be flowing plenty of fuel no pressure test I put a bolt in the rp relief valve it may have made a little difference cant really tell. I did notice that while working on the truck i couldnt stand anywhere near the tail pipe the diesel smell was so bad does that mean I have a leaky injector or 2 or 3. truck has 80k no codes scanned with a snapon scanner and best i could tell everything else was good. How do I test the cascade overflow valve? How do I test the injectors? what next.

last trip the truck could barely get out of its own way... .

i used to have low power, turned out to be the fca wasnt opening up all the way, it would be alot easier to troubleshoot if you had a rail pressure guage, and yes with that many miles it might be time for some fresh injectors

Check your oil level? Leaking injectors tend to fill the crankcase with fuel. I would also change my fuel filter if you haven't already.

You said you used a scan tool to check for codes, did you also check with the key, on/off 3 times without starting, on the 3rd time leave in the on position? Codes show up in the odo window, you could have a bad fca as was stated earlier, also a map sensor could be kaput.

Let us know.

I checked the map sensor when i had it hooked to the scanner seemed to be working is there another/better way to check it. How do you check the fca i dont want to start throwing parts at this thing...

Remove the fca, hold it in your hand and shake it hard in the direction of the length of the cylinder, it should rattle(if not it is stuck). That is the spring loaded piston sliding back and forth, this is what I was told. I have one that rattles, and it is tu, so that does not always mean anything.

If you can find someone who will let you swap his in for a test, that would be better. If you have to purchase one, go to Cummins, they are about $100. 00, I have the part # at home, but someone on here should have it also, or do an "fca" search.

Throttle pos sensor could also be out of calibration, but any sensor that is bad should throw a code.....

NO codes checked the sensor values with a scanner got 0 to 3. 5 volts for the assp. reset the system today by pulling battery terminals off and grounding the positive. and i have the rail pressure relief valve plugged. Truck seems better but not 100% towed a trailer today (about 4k) with it there were a few time i couldnt get more then 20psi boost and i was pushing the pedal to the floor. When I was unhooking the trailer I had to shut the truck off the exhaust smell was so bad, but I did well on fuel less then a quarter of a tank for about 270 miles. leaning more toward an injector or stuck map sensor... By the way JJ thanks for all the input so far.
