Tipm Saver finished

The right turn signal works on the truck but does not work at the truck side trailer plug. I have installed the TIPM Saver and that breaker is not clicking when the turn signal is on. Any one have an idea where to start looking? I put a test light to the wires in the trailer bundle just behind the cab where the lights for my head ache rack are tied in (the right signal in the head ache rack is not working either. ) and got no signal so is the problem under the hood?

Thanks,

I had the same poblem but on the left side. Took it to the dealer and they reset some module and everything has worked fine.

I had the same problem but on the left side of the trailer. Turned out to be a blown fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. It was specifically for the L trailer signal. Shad

Either the fuse is blown or the TIPM has kicked that circuit off. Takes a dealer to reset the TIPM and you only get so many resets and then you have to replace the TIPM.

Isn't the back side of your fuse box cover marked with the fuse layout and descriptions? My 05 lists them as fuse 46 and 47, they are detailed on the cover as Right Trailer Lamps and Left Trailer Lamps. Not sure if the postions or markings are the same on a TIPM truck though.

Yes the fuses are listed the cover but none listed for Right Trailer Lamps and Left Trailer Lamps. So, I guess that means if there is no fuse then the TIPM has trip that circut and I need to make a trip to the Dealer.

According to an 06 FSM:

19 - Lt T-Tow Stop/Turn 30 Amp

21 - Rt T-Tow Stop/Turn 10 Amp

I *think* the T is trailer in the notation.

That's not it, 19 is 40 amp trailer tow which controls the entire tow package and 21 is ORC. I've checked every fuse in the box and unless there is one in a line some where... ... Could the relay in the TIPM Saver be bad?

In that case it may be the relay in the TIPM or the TIPM saver. Hard to tell without some more testing. See if you can get power to the rela in the TIPM saver first I guess.

I don't have an FSM for an 07 and it is not unusual stuff changed.

Thanks for the help, I'll run a hot wire to the appropriate relay in the "saver" and check that and if it's good... well, I have time schedued at my

dealers.

Thanks again.

MuddFlapp, Who did you buy the TIPM saver from? Did you buy it from me when I was building them? The BEST way to fins out if it is the TIPM or the TIPM saver is to Check the RIGHT blinker INPUT to the TIPM Saver with a test light. In other words, check it as though the TIPM Saver wasn't there and the truck TIPM was the sole power to the trailer tow plug. Chris

Yes I did buy it from you, so turn on the blinker and test it going into the saver, if no signal figure it's the TIPM?

Yes. No signal to the TIPM Saver then means that the TIPM needs to be reset. Check all connections and make sure there are no shorts. Is yours the later one I built that plugged in?
If it is in the TIPM saver then if you are willing to pay shipping both ways, I will fix it for you no charge. Yours would be the only one that I have sold that had any problems so far. PM me if you have any questions. Chris

Thanks Chris, it is one that plugs up. Personally I think it is in the TIPM. I checked the wires (and I will check again today) where they run along the frame just behind the cab and did not get any signal with a test light. Thanks for your offer and I'll let you know what I find. Usually with my "stuff" it's the hard (or expensive) thing that breaks.

Gene

Just finished checking again, no power to the light green wire (right trailer turn according to my SM) but the left turn has power. This test in the bundle under the cab. I'm convinced it's under the hood so tomorrow I'll let the dealer check it out. Hopefully he can reset something and I won't be out to much.

Thanks for all the help.

Gene, It would be interesting to know WHY the TIPM tripped. I will PM you with my phone number so I can ask you a couple of questions. Chris

Epilog: As it turns out there was a dead short in the right turn/brake light wire in my headache rack which is wired into the tow package bundle. With that repaired everything returned to normal, everything working as it should. I guess the tipm didn't trip as I did not have to have it reset. Go figure.

Thanks for all the help.
